I would not be surprised if they were Korean or Japanese Americans dressed in North Korean uniforms. A nation like the United States cannot be trusted. As an extension, neither should its citizens.

I'm just stupefied at how far Kim is going, and how quickly. Now he's cut off his nose to spite his face. He's really doing everything he can to poke at the hornets' nest. Lets hope we have the wisdom to simply sit and watch him lose money with the closure, and realize his folly.

Guys, let's face it, you're all going to be sorely disappointed.

Any "war" that may occur as a result of this North Korean "situation" will be on the whole small-scale - as in, it will only be contained within the Korean peninsula, even if the United States intervenes.

The fact of the matter is, life will go on in the United States and in Europe and the rest of the world. You will still go to work. You will still pay your taxes. You will still be in your grind of life.

Nothing exciting (like a massive world war) will come of this. It will be contained. You want to know why? One word: Globalism. Globalism is now all-pervading. You want to know why North Korea is "bad" - it's because it's not a "team-player", it's not "in the circle", it's isolationist. But with globalism, those involved are "good" or "neutral" and those who do not subscribe to globalism and want to do their own thing and be defiant are "bad".

In short, China's, Russia's and the United States' economies etc are intertwined. To go to war against each other would be economic suicide and all sides have tasted the cash (especially China) and would not want that to all go down the drain.

You want to know why North Korea is being particularly vocal right now? It's basically throwing a tantrum because...it's getting no food! You know what an older toddler does when it's getting no food or prezzies - it throws tantrums and behaves like NK.

The World War that you're looking for will be a war over food/resources/water - currently, that's not an issue. Maybe in a few decades - and it would most likely be concentrated on the African continent (where the Chinese are currently entrenching themselves) due to large water deposits that could last centuries and other lucrative and important minerals.

In this day and age, developed nations do not go to war over petty squabbles - money is too important now.

Were you waiting when they did the exact same thing in the past also?

"In March 2009, also during joint U.S.-South Korean military drills that it said were a threat, Pyongyang shut the border, temporarily trapping hundreds of South Korean workers in the industrial complex.
It allowed many of the stranded workers to return to South Korea the next day, and fully reopened the border about a week later without explaining its reversa"

A hornets nest is a pest, the analogy is not lost on the N.Koreans who see every attempt by the U.S. to grind them down as little more than fuel to the fire. The U.S. has no interest in talking, and although they cannot afford it, they need another war to prop up their broken economy and if it wasn't Iran, is was going to be NK.

NK is not a backwards country with rocket propelled camels and it should not be underestimated. They might not win a war, but they can sure as hell do an awful lot of damage in an attempt to do so. Of course the United States does not give a rats behind about collateral damage in the face of profit , so I guess it is business as usual. I suppose depending on how one looks at it, they NEED the North kick off and buttons will continue to be pushed until they do.

NK needs a war.

It's basically now played all its cards in terms of rhetoric. They threatened to nuke the US, turn Seoul into a sea of fire, declared a state of war exists and that war could actually break out any second. Where do you go from there? If this settles down, we'll be in the same place next year....but what can they threaten then? Nobody will take anything they say seriously ever again. This is their last throw of the rhetorical dice. From now on it simply won't work. They know that.

What they want now is war (preferably started by the US/SK) which will result in instant calls for a ceasefire from the UN and China. This will mean NK/SK/US sitting around a table and thrashing out a deal to get that ceasefire (which the US will be desperate to achieve) - and NK most likely getting some major sweeteners in the process. They'll probably get some sanctions lifted, food aid, and maybe even some sort of resolution to the state of war that still officially exists, including the US leaving SK. All because the US/SK won't want to see tens of thousands of dead. NK won't care about their casualties.

Things aren't going to settle back down this time, IMO.
