Kind of in line with the separate "Advanced Search" thread, it would be extremely helpful for the search engine to return results that were either
sorted or sortable, primarily on the "first post date" field. If one runs across a news item that seems like a good thing to post, but it is kind of
generic, the search currently can return hundreds of threads, but because they aren't sorted, a duplicate post of the exact same news item might be
buried on page five, and who's going to slog through five pages of threads to see if that's the case.
More's likely that a person will put in their term, and if the existing thread isn't at or near the top of the first page, they'll assume that it
doesn't exist, because they assume that it's sorted by date. If you're using an SQL query, I think it's just one additional parameter to the
search, though my memory's a little hazy on it.
Just a thought to cut down on duplicate threads and moderator time spent dealing with them.
