Maybe its just an Ohio thing, but its 9:45am and I've already recieved 27 election related phone calls. I woke up this morning at roughly 9:15 and had 7 messages from Bush, 6 from Kerry and about 5 more from various groups.

From then until now, my phone has been ringing about every 10 minutes regarding a election "house call"..

Ive gone as far as to call the phone company complaining and they said theres nothing they can do to stop it, people are being paid to call around and play messages for campaigns, and that they were being slammed with calls regarding complaints.

I searched the net to see if there was an offical story on this, but it seems there is none.

Last presidential run, I didnt get these calls. Maybe 1 or 2.

For the past 3 months I've been getting calls. Today being the absolute worst. I spoke to one gentlemen and told him I was on the "Do Not Call" list and he said that law doesnt apply to campaign calls.

Anyone else getting slammed as hard as I am today? Or are all the campaigners just slamming my house this year hoping they'd get my very special vote?

This is ridiculous!

Funny thing is, my phone number is unlisted. *sigh

I have all the messages saved on my phone and will gladly replay every single one of them to you in a great big .wav file if you wish!

Get a lawyer and sue the testicles off of them. Then file a criminal harrasment report with your local law enforcement and as soon as you get the cops to take a report, get a copy of the report and call the media. Could be some money in that man.

All the calls are from Volunteers. They arent being paid to call me. Meaning, they are not apart of a specific group or team. So who am I going to file a harrassment report against? Each and every individual caller? (Not coming from the same source, I have 17 different numbers in my Caller ID...)

Basically, the argument I got from the man I argued with is this: Anyone can put together a phone ad by compiling quotes from election ads. Whos to say the people making the phone calls arent doing this. He told me he wasnt being paid, and that hes just calling random people to spread the word. (Yeah, right)..

Unfortunately, the "Do Not Call" list doesn't apply to not-for-profit causes. The volunteers are all organized by either of the campaigns, or the DNC or RNC. moveon.org & some of the other 527 groups have also organized phone banks all over the country to call people in the swing states. I think that it is a case of the road to hell being paved with good intentions.

At this point, I think that your only consolation is that it will be over in a few hours. Too bad you don't happen to have one of those air horns to play in the phone...
