You say you "dunno about that." If you don't know about it, why list some examples without providing the statistics. That's very ignorant of you. The statistics say I'm right. The rate of getting cancer from HPV is like 2%. Yes, HIV is the serious one. Do you know what percentage of people with STIs have HIV? There are about 30,000 new cases in the US each year. But there's 100 million people with STIs. That's 0.03%.

The article gives a break down of each type of STD, whether it's curable, what it does to the body, and how to handle the situation should it be temporary or permanent.

I infected my wife with the worst STD imaginiable 3 times. Once in 1975, again in 1979, and again in 1985. They required surgery and hospitalization for several days, but never went away! In fact they are still here! Children are the most common STD! Ok, nothing to see, move along with the serious discussion!

interesting how the origin of an ailment is an obsession when sex is involved. The more sex involved, the more salacious, the more shame, the more headline news.

Interesting how there are some ailments which just have to go with a wonderful social stigma, where the stigma is embedded in the disease - AIDS, HERPES, SYPHILIS, GONORRHEA, HPV. If you have any of these things, you have OBVIOUSLY been a sinner, scumbag, whore, sleeze, pervert, failure and curbing your moral inadequacies. In short, you are awful.

Interesting how each and every STD just seems to involve heaping amounts of shame, social stigma and humiliation, when the non-STD version of the same ailment is seen as victimizing a person. A wart on your hand is "awe, try some over the counter stuff, it helped me..." when a wart on your #$%k or womb is met with, "eww, that is really gross, I can't believe...."

The power of shaming others is beyond measure, the power of ascribing moral shame associated with ailments is a human disgrace and those that perpetuate this endless distinction via salacious headlines and worthless studies are a scourge.

I can't wait until Cancer makes the flip from "ohhhh I'm so sorry" in the victim form, and becomes a sexually transmitted shame ailment where people are banished.

Not I, im married 24 years and we have yet to cheat on each and i dont see it ever happening infact im 51 and never had a STD. I cant speak for my husbands past before me. Im not nor never have been a sleep around kinda h¤€.

Teens aren't known for being very bright about these kinds of things. I'm looking into a chastity belt for my future teen daughter.

Just give her a depo shot as prescribed. Then, you won't have to worry about her responsibility, or his, and you'll KNOW she's ok. (pregnancy wise, at least), though still should do other protection for the STD angle).
