An Honest Liar

I chose the title because it's both tongue in cheek and also because I would like to support the Amazing Randi. One of the reasons I used James Randi is because of how I wanted to bring up how people react to different characters of people and the words they use.

Randi: "The average person out there doesn't realize how easily they can be deceived by a clever operator."

There's power behind words and image. Which I would like to discuss. I know use this like a blog, but I love the discussions I can start on this site. I was reflecting on a quote from Lone Frank, who is a science writer. A girlfriend of hers called her "brutally honest" and when Frank all happy with herself. However, her girlfriend was taken aback from someone who could like being so honest and replied people despise honesty.

Lone Frank: "A girlfriend called me 'brutally honest'. A judgment that made me feel all warm inside and happy with myself until she put her hands on her hips and shouted: 'It's cruel! Don't you understand that people despise honesty?'"

After reading this quote I couldn't believe someone would say that. I mean think about it. Would you rather have someone tell you the truth or lie to you? I guess people love to be lied to than someone being honest with them. The song Liar by Henry Rollins came to my mind as I remember the words he sung about being a liar and how people are easily fooled by liars.
Maybe I'm thinking about this too much. But I would like to see what others think about what I'm thinking. Do you agree words have power and different types of people are appealing; even though they could use you in bad ways.

I've been told I'm brutally honest.. Some people have loved that quality about me, and others have disliked it.

Yes, I'm basically the same. I rather be honest than a liar. At least you know my true feelings toward you.
