I'm def all for term limits.

I'm def for removing special interest and big corporate money from elections (no more "citizen's united BS)

I am dead against a Democracy (Capital "D")...This is a Constitutional Republic based on the rule of law administered through a body of democratically (lower case "d") elected representatives.

We must NEVER become a full blown Democracy...this is a nice way of saying "the mob rules"...the rights of the few or the one will be trampled.

The amendment has ONLY to do with elections thus the Democracy part. It has nothing to do with government function.

Term limits would be a law but you support that, you must not have any solutions.

Sorry you can support things without wanting a law made for it.

what is the difference between a corporation and a labor union?

one trades money for labor.

the other extorts money from the laborer.

one produces products and services.

the other extorts money from the laborer, while promising a pension, then spends that extorted money on useless demonrat politicians who wish to destroy our country, and capitalism, then when all the money is gone, they get bailed out by the taxpayer, via the government and the demonrats, they just bought and paid for.

one employs people.

the other employs nobody.

one produces products and services.

the other produces nothing.

one is voluntary association.

the other is forced.

one is good for the people, and the economy.

the other destroys everything in it's path.

one is a corporation.

the other is a criminal organization...

Let's just apply that to Presidential terms and see how well it works out.

Interesting that so few commented on the content of the proposed amendment. Rather they attacked the language of the post, the character of the sponser (a long term public servant) and the intelligence of other posters.

Sad.

I would have thought that we could agree on getting corporate (and union, and pac, and ....) out of elections. Both sides of the aisle complain that nothing constructive can happen as long as politicians are bought and sold like race car drivers.

I would go further then what this amendment does myself - not revolving door between government and business, regulatory bodies and business, etc. for a minimum of 5 years and publically fund all elections. That's just me.

PS - there are two threads, right now on the front page, about the so-called Monsanto Protection 'clause' being passed and signed by the President. That would not happen, could not happen, if Clean Money Elections were the law of the land. The science (except the bought and paid for kind) is negative about GMOs, the will of the people is against them, the rich and powerful won't eat them; but whatever Monsanto wants, Monsanto gets.

Thanks all for helping make the world a better place.

Please refrain from: one nit picking and character defamation.

The content and intent of the bill is serious and deserves serious consideration.

In the spirit of many posters - I guess you think money ruling the land, brought and paid for politicans and corporate rule are the best way for all of just - that we should just be grateful slaves to the our coorporate masters - you are all just conservative corporate tools.
