Hi, I've been on the site for a few years, but have only recently tried working out a few of the technical things like changing my avatar, etc.

One thing that's really bothering me though, is that I can't seem to find out how to delete a thread I made a while back.

I created a few threads when Below Top Secret was still going, but now that this part of the website no longer exists, I'd prefer to delete them - they don't belong on Above Top Secret. I'd really appreciate if anyone could help with this.

You cannot delete threads yourself. The mods can delete them but I only think they will if they do not meet the rule of ATS.

Simply because you can't, once its posted it becomes ATS property. And no i'm not kidding

EDIT: lol I didn't know this forum was used haha.

You could send a u2u to a mod explaining the reasons why you'd like the thread removed, then let them decide.

Below Top Secret is still alive and well.
It can be found under the "off topic discussions" tab.

To delete a thread, open up the thread that you want to get rid of then hit your monitor with a sledge hammer. You won't see it around anymore.

Threads usually get buried and never come back to haunt you till you piss someone off.

It is actually a two step process.

1) Tell some outlandish story
2) Sign it "Bernard"

That should pretty well solve it for you, glad I could help.

If only you could... your thread will remain in the ATS server for all eternity

They naturally tend to slink beneath the surface, slowly getting buried from other people's new words, posts, and threads.

Once they slip below the surface... you can try to resuscitate a thread. Sometimes that works. But many times they end up in a zombie, trancelike state.... fugly looking.

since all internet traffic between countries is data-mined, type the key words that obviously would set off red flags at the NSA, type the pre-requisite death threats against you-know-who, and viola!...message sent to the ATS admins and your thread is gone....of course, you might get a knock on the door at 4 in the morning, but hey....your thread is history, among other things.

Writing a thread to ask how to delete a thread is part of why I love ATS.

Probably should have pm'd a mod about this problem OP.

Now people, (sensing a conspiracy etc.) will go a searching for your old thread to see what all the fuss was about!

Or not, unless someone is really annoyed at you nobody would bother looking into your thread history. People change, opinions change, don't worry about it.

You need to contact the administrator of ATS.I think the threads created by yourself could virtually be deleted.
