The Lee Perry produced Police and Thieves album cover is a beautiful piece of art.

In my opinion prime Scratch is right up there with the Roots Radics/Scientist combination which I would say is not only the best Reggae, but some of the best music period.

My favorite album by Lee Perry is of course Super Ape and that album cover is another great piece of art. My favorite Scientist album is Dub Landing (both volumes) and that cover art is horrible.

------

I've been working on my own dub mixes lately and just made my first ones public, they are dub versions of Bob Marley's "I Shot The Sheriff" and "Satisfy My Soul"

You can download them on my soundcloud @ soundcloud.com...

Or you can just listen to them embedded here.

Any criticism is welcome.

If any of you haven't seen the movie "Rockers" I would definitely recommend it. It is a great movie and features many of the prominent artists of the golden age of Reggae. My avatar is a screen shot of the main character, who is an actual reggae drummer who played on countless songs. The soundtrack is a great album, really good for beginners too.

Here's the full movie in great quality.

hey, thanks for stopping by... i really really enjoyed your dubs - you captured some seriously spacey moments without making it sound obvious at all, which some modern dub can suffer from. a very nice job indeed.

i love the scientist/radics albums too - i have the various classic greensleeves ones that (at least mostly) work over the barrington levy stuff (spoace invaders, pac man etc), they are easily some of the greatest dub albums in existence, though i think "forward the bass" tends to hover around the top spot more than most for me, maybe "pick a dub" too, and then there is LSP...too many to mention from the great man - it would end up a very long list indeed!
and rockers is a great movie - the drummer is horsemouth something or other iirc.. leroy "horsemouth" wallace? just pulling that out of the back of my head, not gonna google it as thats cheating and it's way long since i last watched it

I saw Byron Lee and The dragonaires live. Ska is my first love. My time is The Specials era. It is why I learned to play the bass because of ska and reggae

That was my era too, late 70's early 80's. Used to go to the scooter rallies and Mod all-nighters.
