Colt Firearms Threatens to Leave Connecticut over Strict Gun Laws

I've been waiting for the "big guns" to speak out. Glad to see Colt doing this. Would love to see them come down here to Texas. The article states Mossberg and Stag arms will leave as well.

Outside of government contracts Colt really isnt a big player at all.

Out of the tens of millions of AR's out there how many are actually Colt's?

Colt makes no shotguns. They discontinued their revolvers.

Outside of folks with more money than sense buying overpriced 1911's and AR's they could get better and cheaper elsewhere Colt is a shell of a company.

That said, they should have left decades ago. Why these companies stay in states that dont want them there is beyond me. Firearms manufactures should have abandoned CT, NY, MA, CA, DE, NJ, IL long ago.

Taking away all those tax dollars is what its about though. Lots of jobs too. Even if it is just symbolic, it can still sway public opinion.

Well I'm glad this is a state issue, yet disappointed but not surprised.
If Colt wants to move, good. Let them create jobs in another state.
Seems those pesky New England states are more UK than I thought.

I hate to see a long-standing gun manufacture have to move, because it's costly.
Plus they've been there longer than alot of states have aquired statehood.

But if the Govn'r wants to reduce the state's income and revenue, shame on him.
Especially since it goes directly against the very founding of the the state itself.
The voters will decide if it was a good decision by the Govn'r.

Should be tried with capital punishment.

I guess this is all a part of that fundamental transformation business. Well, if they want to move, please consider Missouri on the way to Texas. We're gun friendly, business friendly and generally welcome new employers of all kinds. Jobs are Jobs and our state will buy plenty of the product as well. Just a bonus on that last part, but heck.... Doesn't it help to have workers who both use and believe in what they produce?

Rick Perry has made several overtures to Magpul for a move to Texas.



In early February, Texas Governor Rick Perry sent a letter to 26 gun and ammunition manufacturers inviting them to move their businesses to his state. Perry also made a 4-day trip to California last month and ran some ads on radio, hoping that a personal appeal might lure business away. California’s Governor Jerry Brown was not impressed with Perry’s efforts and told the news media how he felt about the visit as well as the media’s focus on it.

Last week, TheBlaze reported on the possibility of Maryland-based gun maker Beretta relocating to Texas. There are also indications that Colorado’s Magpul Industries may move to Texas too. Magpul ran the following ad in the locwww.theblaze.com... papers, warning of job losses if the new gun bill is passed in their state.

Late last month, Shield Tactical (a firearms accessory manufacturer and training company) announced plans to move its entire operation to Shiner, Texas. From Shield Tactical’s Facebook page:

Shield Tactical did make the move to Shiner, TX.

When Texas Gov. Rick Perry reached out to draw gun shop and training center Shield Tactical to Shiner, company president John W. Harrington had a rapid-fire response - yes.

The California-based company opened up shop in Shiner two months ago and was officially welcomed by the governor Wednesday.

Frustration over California's Legislature debating over gun control laws is what ultimately led Harrington to move the company.

"It took me about half a second," Harrington said in a phone interview about the decision to move. "It's been a positive step for us, and every day is a new confirmation for that decision."
