What is wrong with America?

At what point is America responsible for the actions of this individual? If anything he proved the the futility of the idotic gun control groups.

There are many things wrong in America.. Please quote from my OP where I said America was responsible for the actions of this individual... I agree with your latter sentence.

Guns do NOT kill people, no more than a car kills a person - the person pulling the trigger / driving drunk is the one who kills.

If you want to get technical... Guns and cars do kill people. It is the person pulling the trigger or driving the car that is responsible for the action of the gun or car..

More people die each year from cigarette smoking than they do by gun violence... Why are we not seeing the same people who are against guns going after cigarette makers?

I think theres a rather large difference when comparing the prerogative to killing someone and the prerogative to smoke.

Most people do not choose to die by gun violence. People do choose to die by smoking. There is a difference..

A person can only jump out of a window if they have access to a window. A person can only shoot someone if they have access to a gun.

I hope it's exceptionally hot where he's at now. Burning hot. For eternity.

Sure, lets all wish to someone who commited suicide, someone who suffered enough to take his own life, to burn burn in hell...

What a great sense of compassion

I wish he is now able to find peace , wherever he is now.

I agree with you here. While I understand Wrabbit's anger, and feel it myself someone you shoots themselves obviously isn't thinking clearly. Scarring others for life may not have even entered his mind if he was already at this point.

I feel awful for all the people that witnessed this, especially the kids and whoever was in charge of the class. It certainly sounds like there was nothing they could do, but I imagine there is still some guilt.

I'm really hoping this incident doesn't damage the business. That range is awesome and so is the staff. I've never felt uncomfortable shooting there at all and they really do keep an eye out for any sort of safety violations. They do a much better job keeping out the riff raff than another range in the area that will go unnamed. You have to be a member or go with a member to shoot and the crowd is very friendly and helpful.

You make me sound like the bad guy. I have compassion for those who don't victimize others. He put images into the heads of children they likely never...ever..get out. The adults too, for that matter. I think if Hollywood ever showed a truly accurate portrayal outside of cult documentary flicks like Faces of Death (Version 1-infinity), half the audience would throw up their popcorn.

I just think what he did for choice of location and crowd was outright evil and absolutely unforgivable. What right did he have to trash everyone else for mental images like that? Many probably talked or interacted with him in some way. Why can't these people just eat 100 sleeping pills in their own bathroom and leave a note on the door to just call the coroner and don't even enter?

Suicide is selfish for the damage it does to those who have to deal with what remains...IMO. This one, worse than most.

why not?
i'm only going by the thread title.
if he wanted to do such a thing, why do it in front of children.
they won't forget, that will be apart of their childhood.
he knew that.

Just out of curiosity, are we sure this was a suicide?????

I ask because I have heard several stories (2nd hand) of people demonstrating a "safety feature" on some auto loading pistols. Apparently some autos, if the barrel/front of the slide are pressire on an object with enough force, it cants the barrel from the battery position to a partial eject position. This SHOULD prevent the weapon from firing. However; this is more a mechanical coincidence and not a designed safety feature. And not all auto loaders are even designed woth a barrel that canta upward during loading/ejecting. Yet I always here some idiot say, "that won't fire if its pressed against something". The two particular stories I heard involved the idiot demonstrating by pushing the pistol against their head and pulling the trigger. Wonder if this idiot did that?????

it is so funny to see americans shoot and kill themselves or other everyday, but still think that guns are not the problem.

if I compare it to nearly all other western countries, america must be really dumb not to see and accept that the guns are the problem.

maybe you all want to have your big guns, because something else in your throusers is not big enough.
just look at the statistics and you will see, that guns really are the problem. you could at least try to make it a bit harder for all the nutcases and idiots to get a gun.

it is true, you cannot stop suicides and shootings or killings. but you can at least make it harder and reduce the amount of this events. a lot of people will think again if they see that it will be harder to get a gun.

So, .. Let me get this right. . .. . Some guy escapes from Bellevue finds his way to a shooting range with the intention to go on a killing spree. .. .. Incidentally, .. he is also mildly Retarded and shoots himself thinking he is doing the right thing not knowing he just saved all of those lives by going first.

The Governement Just Doesn't Get It ! . . We don't need to ban weapons in any way shape or form. What we need to ban is Crazy People That are Mildly Retarded.

Yet the Window nor the gun went to these people and said "hey, lets jump out of this window" or "hey , lets go kill someone".

A car nor a gun kill people. People kill people.. A car that is parked or driving is not a threat. A gun that is in the car is not a threat.

Its only when the driver decides to take those items and use them in a manner that is incompatible with its intent. A knife, baseball bat, croquet mallet, a drill.... etc

If we are to use your logic, then everything on this planet can be outlawed.

Again, personal responsibility, not a nanny state.

This story sadly reminds me of another that I've had to deal with. About 5 years ago, I was a boyscout leader for a bunch of 10 to 13 year old kids. One of thos kids had to live through his dad's suicide. You see, mommy didn't love daddy anymore and mommy had found a new man. Hey, it happens, no big deal, any real man sucks it up and moves on. Well, this dad thought that it would be a great idea to make sure that his kids knew how much mommy had hurt him.

He ties his kids up to a chair, he sat in front of them on the floor, took a 12 gauge and blew his head off. BUT, just before he pulled the trigger he told his kids " This is your mom's fault, she did this to you and me, blame her for your dad's death!"

Poor kids....Idiot dad !!!

This was a middle class family, no history, all seemed good, hell...The parent even hunted together every year....

This was actually my first though. Maybe he was just being stupid by putting it to his head, maybe he didn't thing the gun would fire. Just doesn't sound the way a typical suicide plays out. This just could have been an accident.

Seriously America you need to revise you gun laws and mental health issues, and do so ASAP before you wipe yourselves out..

I suppose we should ban cars too, since so many more people die in them every day?

You can't legislate against stupid.....

You're not getting it...

The gun is not the issue here... It's the one with the gun that is the issue... Sh*t! Ban life in general... Anything can be "lethal" if used the right way...

I've done some dumb things in life, not to mention I'm an owner of multiple firearms... Would I ever do something like this guy that blasted himself in front of a class? No... Thus being that GUNS ARE NOT THE ISSUE.

Well being that stupid at a gun safety class makes it all the more ironic.. Yes it may very well have been an accident. But until more info comes out we will not know.
