Need Help Finding Asteroid Info

Specifically what would actually happen when a large object (>1km) impacts the planet. Things like tsunamis, climate change, burning the air, etc.

I'm doing a speech on existential threats for my public speaking class, and I am having a hard time finding information. I don't want anyone to do my homework for me, just looking for discussion and nudges in the right direction.

Apophis asteroid is one they are keeping an eye on if you need a good example of preventative measures.

The bottom of the wiki page has lots of references listed. Surely you can search some the peer-reviewed journal articles down and see if they have the info you are looking for.
