i think you mean to say that the united states gives isreal billions (a tad over three billion annually iirc) in aid each year
in fact aid to isreal accounts for about one fifth of our entire foreign aid budget

Explanation: St*rred!

I thank you for your personal insight into this from the standpoint of a former member of the IDF.

However I think your post is reading to much into my post and I will try qualify my posts position more clearly!

I wrote...

The IDF would NOT have had their guns unloaded at the time of arrest and I am quite confident that what he heard was the UNCOCKING and possibly unloading of their weapons once the three men inclucing this man from bristol were arrested and dare I say it ... safely detained.

1stly ... Uncocking a gun does NOT UNLOAD it!

2ndly ... Possibly unloading ...means exactly that ... POSSIBLY ...not definately!

3rdly ... My post never mentioned any numbers when it came to the IDF "soldiers cocking their rifles like a mock execution." and nor does the man from bristol. So whether they all did or just some did is still ambiguous.

4th and finally ... My post makes zero claims about any other issue and it focuses only on the issue detailed in this threads title which was about the 'mock execution' and again I reiterate that I think the man from bristol misread what his senses were telling him while he was blindfolded and in shock..

Personal Disclosure: I hope that clarifies my post succinctly for everyone!

"Going to the territories to protest is a pretty stupid thing to do so don't cry when you get hurt and treated like an enemy of the state "

i agree, if you are going to go to the protest site itself, bring lots of weapons and really PROTEST.

Put automatic weapons in any groups hands, and you'll get this kind of attitude.

That is why I sit on the fence on the whole Israeli/Palestinian thing. If someone gave palestinians the weapons and technology of the israelis, they'd behave in the same way. While I find the israeli oppression of the palestinian people profoundly unnacceptable, I don't imagine things would be any different if the situations were inverted.

As I said, give guns to any group of people, and eventually, you'll get something like this. Crowds are stupid. Nothing to do with being israeli or palestinian. People go nuts when you give them the power to blow someone else away, they always have, and always will.

This is what war looks like, and what war makes people behave like.

Stupid groups of young men who believe that the powerfull boom boom of a weapons recoil makes them immortal, getting laughs by frightening and bullying other human beings. Is it wrong ? Yes. Is it surprising ? No.

This is why no country should ever arm it's stupid young men, or send them anywhere where there are other human beings.

That doesn't make sense. If they were "cocking" their rifles it would eject a bullet and load another. Why would they blind fold him at all unless they were moving him? They wouldn't remove the mag and eject the last bulley which is what you are suggesting. They wouldn't have done anything with their guns unless they were trying to scare the captives. They would never disarm themselves even if the capitves were detained.

Got some corroboration OP?

Tom Woodhead is still being held in a deportation prison in Israel following his arrest more than a week ago. He described how he and two other Palestinians were lined up against a wall while Israeli soldiers cocked their rifles for a “mock execution”.

We have a self declared activist who is there specifically because he hates Israel, the IDF or both ....and now, strictly based on his word, we're to believe this scene of mock executions? Okay, Israeli troops HAVE done some raunchy crap before (you really don't want to get into what Palestinians have done in comparison..).

However... This is ATS with Deny Ignorance as the Motto and I live in Missouri...the Show Me State. Show me more than his personal, verbal claims while he's still in a detention center to be making them? I'd be interested with more.
Ummmm......Well, Brer Rabbit.............His name...is...WoodHead....Perhaps he should have stayed in Bristol and protested his own governments war-like nature...ya know...cleaned his own house, so-to-speak before traipsing off to take sides in a seperate charade...

Ah well...maybe we can hope that the madness ends soon...Heres to that

I don't know if we entirely agree or you meant a little sarcasm there, but I'd say either way, you hit on the best idea for the whole situation.

Let the Israeli's and Palestinians sort their own hash ..and that really does mean Governments need to get out of this in the overt and covert games to both sides as well .... while activists like this put their efforts toward their own nations and governments they know best.

It would be perfectly fair to say England itself is in some serious challenges these days, as do most large and well developed nations. All things being equal and since you mention it, those governments could stand to see every warm body in opposition to them as possible.

(Think Globally and Act locally would be another term which might fit?)

That was exactly what I was alluding to.

If your country needs that much "aid" -- it's not truly a sovereign country at all. If you need the USA's aid in order to maintain your country -- it's not really your own country. It's owned by the USA and her allies.

I'm an American, and those are my tax dollars.

If I want to bitch about the policies of Israel, I feel fully justified. And if I want to throw a bag of dog # in protest, well I don't see any problem there. Dog crap and spit hurt a lot less than white phosphorus and cluster bombs.

I used to be on the fence, but I keep thinking what would happen if that situation happened here. You have a country who just wants to live and make money and then you have a people who want land that belong to your country. In all fairness, most of the borders of countries have been decided by war. Even Canada/USA. Israel is our only real middle eastern ally. I support them 100000%. They share the exact same morals and beliefs as us. They also let their women vote lol

You guys might want to research Sharia law, and see how completley opposite it is from North America. While Judaism/Christianity though are quite similiar.

If Bristol campaigner, Mr Woodhead, had traveled to a Palestinian controlled areas
Its funny how you wrote "controlled area" , while throughout the Thread , it is referred to as "Occupied territories".

Would you be OK with Canada "controlling" states along the 49th?
