Sounds like this one is passed along very easily. An easy epidemic for next flu/cold season but coming from the middle east instead of Mexico like the H1N1/Swine Flu supposedly did. If I'm reading this correctly - It's in the same family as the SARS .. and similar to virus' found in bats. Jeeeeze .. it's always something up and coming ...

CDC Warns Health Officials to Be Alert for Deadly New Virus

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Thursday warned state and local health officials about potential infections from a deadly virus previously unseen in humans that has now sickened 14 people and killed eight.

Most of the infections have occurred in the Middle East, but a new analysis of three confirmed infections in Britain suggests the virus can pass from person to person rather than from animal to humans, the CDC said in its Weekly Morbidity and Mortality Report on Thursday.

The virus is a coronavirus, part of the same family of viruses as the common cold and the deadly outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) that first emerged in Asia in 2003. The new virus is not the same as SARS, but like the SARS virus, it is similar to those found in bats.

I can't say that I will get my panties in a knot about it. It seems like every year the CDC or the WHO announces a new "deadly virus" that will surely turn into a pandemic and kill us all if we don't go get a flu shot. Viruses change and mutate all the time and there will never be a vaccine that protects us from all of them. The best way to prevent catching a virus is to keep your body healthy and be sanitary, and the best way to prevent the spreading of a virus is if you feel sick stay at home so you don't give it to others. Immunizations will never replace using common sense.

What makes you say that? Surly if it passed along very easily then we would be seeing 1000's of cases by now.

- That's what I got from reading the article. That's what it seems like to me.
- It's in the same family as the common cold. That's pretty easily spread.
- It's just getting started at the end of this cold/flu season. It didn't have time
to get going really big. So next year is when we'll see if it takes off or not.

I really cant see how you managed to get that idea from the source article. I think your jumping to conclusions a bit there.

What i got from reading the article was that there has only ever been 2 cases (maybe) of this being passed from human to human. All other cases of infection we have ever seen from this virus have been a one time infection from animal to human. Then the virus goes no further. I think this is about as far from a highly infectious disease as you can get.

Just because something is in the same family of virus as SARS or the common cold doesn't make it work in the same way.

This is from the wiki page

In September 2012, what is believed to be a new type of coronavirus, tentatively referred to as Novel Coronavirus 2012, being similar to SARS (but still apart from it, and also different from the common cold-causing coronavirus) was discovered in Qatar and Saudi Arabia. The World Health Organisation has issued a global alert accordingly and issued an interim case definition to help countries strengthen health protection measures against the new virus. The WHO update on 28 September 2012 said that the virus did not seem to transmit easily from person to person.

Maybe .. but that's what I got out of it. That it is part of the common cold family and therefore, I would think, that it would spread just as easily. I guess we'll find out next flu/cold season.

Anyways .. I have pictures of the CDC World Wide Alert Level thingy happening again ... and all sorts of chatter about having to get a special shot for this ... and schools giving massive numbers of innoculations for it ... and the government getting involved .... and Big Pharma who makes the shots suddenly getting a huge boost in revenues for pushing the shots on everyone.

But .. i'm a paranoid conspiracist ... so perhaps that explains a few things.

Could this be a biological attack by Mexico?
I don't think it will work because any beer you have to stick a lime in the bottle to drink is not a real beer and is rejected by real people.

Removing my tongue from my cheek now.

From what I understand, the coronavirus is contracted by someone who's health and resistance are already extremely compromised, such as people literally in the process of dying in ICU for instance. The most vulnerable such as the ill elderly seem to be the victims. The CDC appears to be spreading doom porn whenever there is a bug out there they can't cure. We can't cure the common cold and millions get sick every year. But you don't see people dying en masse from them. Unfortunately, when there is something to worry about, the CDC will have run out of 'wolf' alarms and people won't listen when maybe they should.

It seems to me that when governments want to distract the public from something this is one of the things that always comes up.

How many of these scare stories have ever come true?

The WHO even broke their own rules on what constitutes a pandemic the last time.
More people die from "normal" influenza each year than have ever done from all these scare stories combined.
