I guess there is a huge locust outbreak in Egypt ahead of Passover.

Wow, I have been reading parts of the Bible just to research and it's amazing some of the stuff that comes up in real life that was displayed in the Bible. Interesting stuff. I wonder what else we can look forward to?

Strange thing about these articles is that there isn't any photos/videos to accompany the stories. I imagine that something of this significance would at least warrant pictures.

Is there anyone here that is in Egypt that can give us a first hand account?

As an annual event, it's probably not something to get one's dander up about.

Thank you for the additions! It's exciting to live in such historical times. I'm not a very religious person but some of the stuff is very interesting.

I don't pay much attention to theses types of things but if it is just a yearly thing then they must be propagandizing the story?

I'd say "sensationalizing" would be a better word. It is the media, after all.

It's definitely something I have not heard of happening in a while. I found this Wikipedia article about the desert locust:

The last major desert locust upsurge in 2004–05 caused significant crop losses in West Africa and had a negative impact on food security in the region.

To get the rank of "biblical" the numbers are so great that the sun is blocked out and everything green down to the blades of grass are consumed. When its all over there is a one foot layer of dead loci covering the ground.

To add, locusts were made as a sign of judgment. Another example being;


Malachi 3:9-12 KJV
Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.

[10] Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it .

[11] And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.

[12] And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the Lord of hosts.
