Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag Made Official with Cover Art and PS3 Exclusive Content

Ubisoft confirmed the obvious this morning by sharing the European cover art for Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag (i.e. Assassin's Creed 4) and subsequently confirming the game on Facebook.

The next Assassin's Creed installment was outed a few days ago when a GameStop employee photographed and shared a promotional poster that he/she wasn't supposed to. Shortly thereafter, a screenshot and some slim details about the game surfaced including the "pirate" setting that would visit multiple islands in the Caribbean Sea. The game's cover art confirms this setting, which makes perfect sense considering the outstanding ship vs. ship naval battles that were featured in Assassin's Creed 3.

Ubisoft also stated that they will reveal "all the details" about Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag on Monday, March 4 at 6pm CET (i.e. 12pm EST). Based on the covers we can see that the game has been designed for the current-gen Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 consoles, as well as Wii U and the PC. It will be interesting to see if Ubisoft has anything up their sleeves for the now confirmed holiday 2013 Playstation 4 or Microsoft's upcoming new Xbox console.

Look for "all the details" from UbiSoft (link is to U.S. site) on Monday March 4th, 2013 (officially)

Lets hope they do better with this one than they did with #3.

It shouldn't be difficult.

I think they have drained Assassin's Creed dry and should come up with something new. I remember when I played the first one and LOVED it. I told everyone about what an awesome game it was and I enjoyed the next 2 as well. BUT... I kind of feel like this series has had its time.

And this is what happens when a series that should have ended, decides to go a step further away from it's roots.

Pirates? Really?!

This is gonna suck, pretty bad. I can't remember the last good pirate game I played. The whole thing is just overdone, and corny.

I'd have preferred to have seen something modern, or something set in ancient history. The whole high seas thing is just plain dumb, who you gonna fight against, the British?!

Pirates? Really?!

Yeah, I am apprehensive myself, although I did enjoy the naval missions in 3, so we'll see.

I wasn't to fond of guns nor ships, I wanna go back to Italy with hidden blades and swords!

Story will have to improve as well!

It's going to be based in the Caribbean, maybe the Bermuda Triangle will come into play, a few possibilities with regards to time in that respect.

eta: "time" travel that is

Nice. I love this franchise. Hopefully they do better than AC3.

It shouldn't be difficult at all. AC3 kind of sucked in comparison to previous installments. I wish they would of went to the present in AC4. Would of been a nice change.

You guys have to remember one main thing about the Assassin's Creed games you are following the ancestry of Desmond and the whole back story of the world ending and what not. So they aren't going to go back in time unless like dude said they invent some sort of time travel device. I guess we have to wait and see.

I've bought ever installment of the AC series mainly just for the main story line. With that said I doubt I will buy this one, the (anti)climax of the last AC was a big let down, and in all honesty once I complete the story I rarely pick them up again. The multiplayer never was all that appealing.

Let me know when they get to the inevitable story line - AC in modern times.

Assassin's Creed 3 was epic!!! It was a great game that not only made the AC games fun again, but it introduced naval combat which was brilliantly executed. It was kind of obvious that they were testing the naval gameplay to see how well it would do and it was great! Now with Black Flag they can expand on it and actually make a good pirate themed game because we have NEVER had even a decent pirate game. If you don't like it don't play it and stop complaining.

The navel campaigns were quite fun in AC3
so if they can implement this well in Black Flag, it will be one hell of a game, also taking into consideration last navel game was Battlestations: Midway which I played

one good thing about having Press access to almost all Game developers and publishers, I get details long before they are public
