Those are pretty cool.

Right away my concerns would be accuracy, bound to be horrible, and damage to the shotgun barrel over time.

As a parlor trick it's super cool. Accuracy will dictate practical worth.

While on the subject: Black Powder conversions, Flaregun adapters.

It may be handy at close range, but accuracy is going to suffer. The bullet is going to wander inside the barrel, instead of following the rifling.

How simple would it be to ake the dam things a few iches linger with rifled interior???

These are a good little device,
they could be used for training purposes quite handily.....
As well the survival angle is an enormous advantage.
The 22 survival type rifle, can now be replaced with a shotgun, which converts to other calbers as nessessary.

Agree with other posts above. Guess it really doesn't matter if you don't have a rifled barrel shotgun though. Either way accuracy will be non-existent.

the bullets will most likely go end over end when they come out, but there is a .22L adapter that is longer and rifled, that may work a bit better.

The chamber insert itself has rifling in it. As much rifling as a snub nose revolver which is plenty to stabilize a bullet for accuracy. Snub nose pistols are limited in accuracy by the short length of sight radius, not by lack of enough rifled barrel. If you put reference marks on edge of chamber and edge of adapter so that you always instert it the same way, it should be accurate enough.

If your gun isn't very accurate you'd better have more than one bullet in your gun....this parlor trick has neither.

In a survival situation if I had everything this guy had on the range with me except 12 gauge shells I'd run....I'd probably run anyway because I am a piss poor shot.

For some reason i think back to the 1973 Columbo episode "double exposure (S3 ep 04)" where the killer used one so its hardly new but when i looked them up online after seeing the episode there was very little about them

this is a review of the extended 22L adapter by Dave Canterbury from the tv show Dual Survival.

Pretty neat.. And I doubt the bullet bounces around the barrel. It is going to go straight down the middle. If it was bouncing around he wouldn't have even hit that target. Also he had no sites. Still a cool idea and would be great for survival. Not as a main weapon of course.

In a pinch, I can see it as a useful product. I would like to find a shotgun like his but with sights other than a bead in the front, or have sights installed by a gunsmith. I think I might think about investing in a new shotgun and the adapters. I would rather get an O/U double barrel SG, it would be like having a giant Derringer.

I can see where these might be a handy piece of equipment in a SHTF scenario when ammunition for a specific weapon might not always be available. Having a variety of these would allow you to use whatever ammo you can get your hands on.

It certainly has its place but not as a primary use device. Ive seen similar adapters on the skeet and trap range for those wishing to make things a little more challenging without having to buy a separate gun. I see the limitations however when chambering down to the pistol calibers. Definitely worth tucking in the bag if you have a single or dbl. barrel shotgun. I don't and have no plans to buy one.

Dave Canterbury? What a fall from grace he had. Is he still in the bushcraft/wilderness survival business. He used to show up at some local gun shows from time to time. Not sure if he is now under permanent cover.

I for one think it's a pretty great addition to a long-term survival kit. When the SHTF these wouldn't come out, but if the world was broke down 6 months, or a year or more, scrounged ammo may or may not fit what you got. These would let you utilize anything you came across.

I wonder how much variation in accuracy each round would produce.

One more thing: (whispering) Surprised these are legal, since you get the ability to fire a bullet w/ no rifling patterns or traceable record of owning a 9mm or whatever. "Nope officer, I only got a 12 gauge."

For real rifle calibers youd have a much longer insert....still accurate and they wouldnt bounce around the barrel anyways nummies....
The bullet travels oo fast to ever hit the sides of the shotgun barrel....
For such gun lovers yankees dont seem to know a helluva a lot about how guns shoot....duh.
but the pistol cals have plenty of rifling in side the insert piece....
