I've heard this a lot within the last year or so. The "singularity" is approaching, we are becoming one. What the...?! Does the New Age movement refer to this as purely metaphysical, or technological or both?


I only heard the "Cabal" term used only recently, people only really said "elites" or the "illuminati" when referring to this same thing. My interpretation of the term "cabal" anyways..

Some New Age stuff I find a bit mumbo jumbo-ish, some of it sounds quite awesome but I'm now more confused.

I have some ideas, some my own, some googled. I'm sure the difference is easy to spot

The singularity could be a supreme being or aliens, coming back for reunification of humanity

A place in space or time where physics do not apply (is this theoretical physics?)

Some sort of AI that we develop ourselves, perhaps predicted by web bot

The God, The Creator or The Energy which created us returning (if you believe in that sort of thing, I'm saying I guess its possible)

An intelligence we create ourselves that doesn't take over, but integrates us as part of a type of machine, organic species universal hive type mind, (whoa what?)

Something to do with a black hole, according to theory, the density is infinite (because a finite mass is compressed to a zero volume). Hence it is a singularity.

Questions and Discussion

I've read people seem to speak of it as they know what it is. There is a gravitational singularity which still cannot be proven but current astrophysics indicate it to be true because we cannot fly into black holes yet?

Is it accepted in the scientific community that humanity will become a "singularity" through our own technical achievements and progression of exponential scientific evolution?

I don't expect a 2 + 2= 4 type answer because its merely speculation and theory some of my postulations. Or does the term "singularity" have a broad meaning and is interpreted differently by different people as with most things?

Just like "singularity" will be the state, fact, or condition of being singular... So it can be many things but what are the "New Agers" referring to when they speak of it?

I've very open minded and I'm not derogating when I say "New Agers" but I think people will know what I mean when I say it. I'm really trying to not step on any toes

But it seems pseudo scientific when its spoken of, especially amongst the ATS community. If I'm being tricky there's no need to be hostile, just nudge me in the right direction if you know.

Do some of you think humanity will evolve to something like a singular consciousness or something? An interesting but confusing topic I would like to discuss with some open minded people. So feel free to contribute anything you think is relevant.

Yeah, I just finished reading "the UFO singularity" by Micah Hanks, a couple days ago. A very good book! Lots of really mind blowing stuff. The best parts are about "Time Travel", as in we are visiting ourselves from the distant future.

The future is not defined of course, because we (now) don't know how far in the future we discover time travel.

But, the way its talked about in the book makes sense.

I think it is likely that we are all one. I believe individuality and separation of you against them is a case of mistaken identity. I think death is nothing more than the death of your current identity and a re association with your true identity- the unified whole.

I said I don't subscribe to such labels as, "new ager" which are viewed negatively by most skeptics. Sorry for the confusion.

You asked for an opinion on the new age aspect and that's what I offered. If that's not what you were looking for in the OP, you should have been more clear. Actually I do have a scientific opinion on the matter, but I think I'll save it for a less critical op.

there are two competing types of singularities that are being discussed in 'new age' circles.

#1 ... a metaphysical plane of exsistence where everyone will be able to read each others thoughts. most likely this would be done in a different 'dimension', something similar to the astral plane. (i have had a glimpse of it -it's fun awesome!)
it would be reached if humanity ,enmass, follows a path of 'enlightenment'.

#2 ... a technologicaly integrated type of exsistence where humans will have their conciouness combined by mechanical (supercomputers) means, staying in this 'third dimension'.

competing 'aliens' are said to be 'helping' us along on both of these fronts.
their intentions, ultimately, are not known.

the possibility that the earth may 'split in two', with some people acsending to #1, and the rest remaining for #2 ( ) is also theorized.

I found this interesting especially where you said we can read every body's thoughts. I'm reminded of the Akashic records when I read this.

What are the Akashic Records?
The Akashic Records are an energetic imprint of every thought, action, emotion, and experience that has ever occurred in time and space. The Akashic records is a etheric holographic repository (another dimension?) with all thoughts, actions, emotions and consciousness which has striking similarities to your description of the first singularity.

The second singularity described here had Ray Kurzweil's name pop into mind.

Ray Kurzweil is easily the most popular singularitarian. He embraced Vernor Vinge’s term and brought it into the mainstream. Yet Ray’s definition is not entirely consistent with Vinge’s original. In his seminal book The Singularity Is Near Kurzweil defines the technological singularity as:

“… a future period during which the pace of technological change will be so rapid, its impact so deep, that human life will be irreversibly transformed. Although neither utopian nor dystopian, this epoch will transform the concepts that we rely on to give meaning to our lifes, from our business models to the cycle of human life, including death itself.”
