I couldn't find this on here ..... a brilliant video of working perpetual motion.... SPOILER: hypothetical !!

But so this doesn't go into 'hoax' here is a cool contender for some sort of perpetual motion machine...

I think magnets should be allowed in perpetual motion machines.

I'm usually very sceptic about perpetual motion machines, but I like the idea of the self flowing flask. If you make it in a closed environment so water don't evaporate, make it big enough, and add a dynamo between the upper pipe and the flask, you could even have a great free energy source ! would be interesting to investigate. More than all the turning-wheels based ones, which will most likely stop at some point, even if slowing down very slowly...
Anyway the self flowing flask would probably also stop working with time, even if the water flows into a closed circuit to prevent evaporation. for 1 simple reason: Erosion. It would take a lot of time, but water will damage both the pipe and the glass. Anyway still the best approach for long term perpetual motion if you ask me.

Btw, unlike op, I don't think magnets should be allowed into a pmp... for a simple reason: Magnets are like batteries, they have a limited magnetic charge, and they deplet with time. So basically, they would be great to create an illusion of perpetual motion, but wouldnt be the real deal, plus recharging them would require much more energy than what the machine could provide, so it's not viable for free energy generation (which is the main potential great application of a perpetual motion)

Perpetual motion doesn't exist. Been covered extensively on this forum. No matter what new gadget, trinket or otherwise is marketed to the naive. The very concept determines its impossibility.

If there is some energy source that will never deplete, that will be the energy source. Not perpetual motion.

See: Entropy.

True, but the self flowing flask still is an interessting idea...
And could work for a long time under the good circumstances...
But that's not really perpetual motion, it's more like a perpetual flow, which is not impossible and seen sometimes in the nature.

That's fake, which is different than hypothetical.

But so this doesn't go into 'hoax'
Ah so you know it's fake. Hypothetical wouldn't go in the hoax bin, but fake would.

Yes it's a piece of art from an artist. But I doubt it's perpetual motion, it's probably a hoax just like the first video:

It might have been said in no certain terms....

How do these machines work under load? Real load?

I dream of the time there are working models of a free energy machine, I have in my time maintained built and repaired jet and turbo prop engines and everything in between and still not seen a likely candidate, and despite my best efforts come up with an idea.

No matter what we come to, something always seems to "have" to swing the thing from the begining....hense no free energy.

A self sustaining machine is as far as the human body goes.....I have a feeling that if we crack this then we have really out done ourselves. It would be nice to see that in my life time ...really.

Cheers

They don't even work under "no load", so I'm not sure why you're asking about load. The expert that commented in the second video plausibly stated the efficiency might be 90% which is far better than the 30% efficiency a car gets from burning gas. That's quite plausible considering the nature of the metal ball and track, low friction, etc. But to operate under no load it would need 100% efficiency (which doesn't exist), not 90%.

Over unity (meaning over 100% efficiency) means it could operate under load, but since it's not even 100% efficient, it seems pointless to ask about over unity or operation under load.
