I think this is a very telling indication of hidden motives behind this people-control legislation.

What I mean is, well, politicians are always parading children around when they are going after guns. But if it was really about keeping kids safe, then why are they making simple ownership of a 30-round magazine a greater crime than repeated child molestation, possession of child pornography, rape, luring of child, substitution of child, forcible touching, illegal imprisonment, et cetera?

I would love all the European ATSers who are constantly chiming in on the anti-firearm, pro-control side of the debate, to explain to me how owning a 30-round magazine is a greater crime than repeated child molestation? How could anybody ever believe that?

Or arson. Not attempted arson, but the actual commission of the act of willfully and purposefully setting a fire with the malicious intent of property destruction. Owning a 30-round magazine is a worse crime than that?

Why are you fighting this?

Seems to me that the best course for you, if you think its unconstitutional, is to let it go into effect in all its glory then run it up to the Supreme Court so they can make a definitive ruling and set a precedence so this stuff can never be passed again.

If you stop it without doing that they may just pass it again.

I think we had this conversation elsewhere - the SCOTUS is in on it of course they will say it is constitutional. They are part of the problem.

The people are the power not the Supremes - appointed for life with absolute authority to "rule" on what is legal and what is not. Psssshhh...

I agree that they are supposed to be the arbiters but they have demonstrated outright nonsense in the past. Obamacare, it’s not a tax now it’s a tax, the government can take your land to sell it to someone who will generate higher tax revenue... They are not looking out for the citizens they are catering to their masters.

Thank You for your kind words, they are not usually found these days especially on these types of topics where everyone seems to want to demand you give in to their way. And you are correct this is a very important topic that is spreading like wildfire throughout the country now even it seems, as more and more states try to adopt the same tactics. It truly is an attack on us by a group of people no doubt, anyone can see that between what the POTUS administration is doing and what people like Cuomo and Bloomberg are as well. An agenda that was scripted a while ago seeing the light of day now, these laws weren't whipped up over night like they were introduced and passed.

LOCKPORT, N.Y. -- New York State's new tough gun control law continues to cause controversy and debate. Tuesday night, lawmakers in Niagara County voted unanimously to support legislation that many other counties have passed, sending a symbolic message to lawmakers in Albany to repeal the SAFE Act. Some frustrated gun owners held a rally before the meeting to voice their concerns, and urge legislators to vote to ask lawmakers to repeal the SAFE Act.

Ulster County Chiming in here
- In preparation for the vote tonight they had to move the event 3 times to different locations -- for the mass of folks stepping up to the plate to say - We the People say NO to the Safe Act. I was there - Yes, tonight, Ulster County became a green on the map
Thank you to the Legislative Office that heard Us and gave your Yes.

More power to you all. I live in Wisconsin, and it's been strangely quiet here. Can't quite get a read on it. Hunting is BIG business here, besides the 2nd amendment - I don't know anyone who doesn't have a gun, or 20 in their house.

New York - didn't they just say that having child pornography isn't really a crime?

How long is it going to take to get the obozo care tax fixed? thanks to the supreme idiots.

The counties in green are passed and the counties in yellow are pending, and all the others need to decide what they want to do. But as you all can see the majority of NYS doesn't want this.

One more feather in the cap of liberty!!

OK, that was a bit corny but I share your enthusiasm. Looking at your map, I’d say the citizens of NY State have almost universally repudiated the SAFE Act.

WAY TO GO, NY!!

Now how do we petition congress to split the state in half? Seeing as we are not represented up here. Us folks in upstate NY need to brake away from the city.

Good luck with that!

Most large urban areas tend to lean liberal. The state capital of Texas (Austin, Travis County) was one of the only counties in Texas that voted for Obama in 2008 and 2012.

Compare that to King County, Texas! Only 5 votes for Obama!!!!

There is no breaking away for upstate NY. Your only option is to elect better representatives or you do have the option of moving to another state where people share your views.

Well we have some momentum right now and it would be worth a try albeit would probably be a failed endeavor. I willing to roll the dice.

Today we added Erie county to the map and I updated the others from the other day to reflect the current standings. Here is a link to a website dedicated to tracking the progress so anyone can verify my info.

Saratoga & Cayuga Counties have been added as well as a couple of counties I had not had listed in yellow which are pending a vote. There are a few more that have been listed elsewhere as a vote incoming this week or next that are supposed to be a guaranteed pass, but I will withhold adding those to the list until official vote counts come out for those counties. I am trying my hardest to keep this list as accurate as possible with verified counties and not just speculation. Several have postponed voting until around March 11 or so, updates as they come in which seem to be here and there. And for those following there is supposed to be an update to the Tresmond lawsuit today that was delayed yesterday because of scheduling issues in court, sources say it is a major announcement.
