Prisoner X: Israel says Mossad should be allowed to get on with their job

Benjamin Netanyahu has demanded that Israel's security agents be allowed to get on with the jobs, as Australia demanded an explanation over the jailing and apparent suicide of alleged Mossad spy Ben Zygier, dubbed 'Prisoner X'. As Australia launched an inquiry into the mysterious death, Mr Netanyahu warned that full disclosure could "badly damage" state security.
The so-called 'Prisoner X' case remains shrouded in mystery and has embarrassed Bob Carr, Australia's foreign minister, who was initially unaware his own department knew Israel had secretly tried and imprisoned the Australian-Israeli citizen.

And just how revealing details of his "suicide" badly damage state security Benny? Is it because he had a little help with his "suicide"? Funny how he was able to do this while being under continuous surveillance.

This case has intrigued me for some time. A few points to add to the level of high strangeness surrounding this case.

Israel never acknowledged the prisoner's existence but issued a gagging order in 2010 to prevent details of the case being published. Media gagging orders in Israel are rare and issued in special cases concerning national security.

It said it had reason to believe Mr Zygier had been recruited by Mossad.

According to ABC's Foreign Correspondent programme, Ben Zygier was found hanged in a cell in late 2010, months after he was imprisoned, and his body flown to Melbourne for burial the following week. When the story about Prisoner X first emerged, Israeli media said the unidentified man was being held in isolation at Ayalon high-security prison in Ramle, central Israel. It said the prisoner was held incommunicado, receiving no visitors and without any contact with the outside world.

LOL - remember when you were a little kid and you knew you did something wrong that you did not want mum and dad to find out about - the lengths you would go to, to hide your little secret(s).......

Worked for Mossad, incarcerated, died, cover up, denial.

Hmm, it's evident he knew some pretty serious stuff that could bring Israel to her knees. Perhaps something to do with Mossad operations overseas and associated infiltration programs - against her allies maybe.

Nothing is off the table when it comes to that part of the world - nothing.
