So, I'm here in Adelaide, and fireworks are going off somewhere past the airport, I'm looking low and to the east. I turn around and gaze up at Orion,
Sirius, and then down to Jupiter. Something catches my eye.
Between Jupiter and Orion, at this point closer to Jupiter, is a 'star' that I've never seen before. Then I realised it was moving so i adjusted my
thought to a satellite, yet all the satellites I see are ALWAYS faint white. This was pulsating orange with the occasional change to red. Still, I
thought maybe this is a satellite I've never seen before....until it stops.....then goes again......then stops again......then goes up diagonal
right.....then stops again....then starts again in one direction....pretty much travelling along a pathway between orions belt, Rigel and Cursa. So it
continued travelling in this direction until it reaches a distance almost directly above the three stars below orions belt (above for me) that are
aligned (l Ori, 1 Ori C and c Ori) and then it makes a right hand turn and travels towards but below Sirius....still pulsating but growing ever
fainter until it goes below and past Sirius where I can no longer see it with the naked eye.
This happened at about 10.00pm Adelaide time.
I couldn't get any pics but my partner witnessed it. I tried to get my Mum to also view it from a different location but they are not avid stargazers
so just trying to direct their gaze to the proper location was seemingly impossible. Nevertheless it was nice for my partner and I to see something
that we cannot explain.
