Alright so this was my first time listening, and for the majority of the show I added them on Skype and was waiting for an accepted contact, just as they say on their site.

All it was, was mostly 1 guy putting out his opinion on every damn topic. Why ask for callers if you don't even acknowledge someone making an attempt to get in?

You let this George guy call in twice while I was waiting the whole night.

You dissed on members making threads about pro-gun early in the show.

Well it is a current event relating to the news and it should be talked about not hushed.

You dissed on people being "too informative, might leave people behind" and at the same time said it "is just a forum"

Well if its "just a forum" don't complain about people putting their opinion about guns.

Kind of contradicted yourself there.

You also thanked yourself in a list of thank yous.. who does that?

You accepted my Skype at the very end of the show and appeared offline; this was a waste of 3 hours listening to you ramble on, while I was trying to get on the air to counter-argue you.

It seems the stars and flags speak for themselves.
I didn't listen tonight,but I have in the past.
I agree,it needs a little tweaking.

I will just leave it at that.
Peace,

There are at least six people in the studio at any given time, and all of them comment on the stories we discuss.

A contact request on Skype is not "calling in" - its simply asking for an acknowledgement to share contact details. Also, if you were listening last night you'll be aware that we were having more than a few technical issues. The call that came in was from someone dialling the contact numbers and not a direct skype to skype call.

ATS is a diverse forum covering a whole plethora of topics. Its not just about guns. Guns have had massive coverage on the site and on the show in recent weeks. As the show host I have to ensure we cover other things as well as whatever the mainstream media has people fixated on.

You also thanked yourself in a list of thank yous.. who does that?

As the person doing the thank you's, I think I'd remember that. When we do a chat room shout out we cover everyone who is in there including myself, and other members of the studio team, for completeness' sake.

You accepted my Skype at the very end of the show and appeared offline; this was a waste of 3 hours listening to you ramble on, while I was trying to get on the air to counter-argue you.

A waste of the whole 3 hours? Were you intending on staying on the show to counter every single point? We covered 7 main subjects, 6 "turbo" subjects and some general chat across the night as well.

Well, I'm sorry about the Skype contact issue, and that you feel the whole three hours was wasted, but please remember, its not life and death, its an entertainment radio show based on the subjects discussed on the forum. Its not perfect - there is always room for improvement in any venture, but we have been doing this for nearly 3 years now and comments like this are few and far between.

Remember, its not meant to be overly serious, and - frankly - there is always next week. Seven days goes by quickly.

In the "studio" the six of us are in a text chat. Not all of us have experience at being on a radio show, so we may not have a lot to comment about. When we DO have something to say on the topic, we type "cue" and Nef (the host) will give us the signal to give our comments. That way we don't have six people talking over everyone else.

It's sort of a "morning show" format (do you listen to any morning shows when you drive to work? I listen to KLUV's morning show) -- where you have the main host who introduces the stories and then the rest of the team adds comments or other bits of information. The "main moderator" format allows some sort of order.

You accepted my Skype at the very end of the show and appeared offline; this was a waste of 3 hours listening to you ramble on, while I was trying to get on the air to counter-argue you.

There's a couple of ways set up to handle this (because sometimes we get a lot of people who would like to comment and we don't have enough time to let them all chat): the chat forum itself is a LIVELY place where there's a lot of discussion (and if someone makes a good point, Nef will often comment about "so-and-so said this in chat".) Comments and corrections are also made in the show discussion topic (I don't get into the chat window, but I am one of the ones who will read the show discussion topic for comments made during the show by folks who can't get into chat.

Me, I am a Skype novice, so they still have to walk me through how to do a lot of this stuff.

I hope you'll join the crowd in the chat room next time (and perhaps comment on the show thread?) as well as call in if you have something you'd like to comment about. That way, if we're only accepting a few callers (because of a special guest or some such) everyone will still get a chance to hear YOUR views!

I've gotta say I've tuned in once before...I was expecting intelligent conversation...

Instead it was one blubbering idiot, rabbiting on in a typical loud, droning, American Manner.

Haven't tuned in since

I'm a regular, and avid listener to ATS Live. I like the format...a lot. It's fun and informative at times. I truly enjoy putting a voice/face to the ATS member when I listen. I've never called in, I listen to hear other people talk.

If you only tuned in to hear yourself talk...start your own radio station. You can be in complete control of the content. But, don't expect to have a very big listening audience, as it takes a lot of time, and dedication to gather that flock.

If you tuned in expecting to hear a carbon copy format of an existing MSM radio program you listen to, why even tune in to ATS Live. As a member of ATS, you already know, somewhat, what the format will be like. It will be like ATS. Varied personalities, sometimes reflecting the culture of that part of the world they hail from, and the friendships that exist on ATS.

JMOHO....

I have to agree with the OP! I tuned in last night for the first time, and I found myself being largely disappointed with what I heard. First off you guys dedicated a ton of time to the whole Fox news interview where some broad was asked about something she had obviously no authority to comment on but did anyway. Great, make the point and move on. Instead you guys blathered on and on about it and even took it as far as turning the whole damn thing into a political toss around. I mean how does one jump from a solar conversation to politics given the back story?

Then you guys just barely even mentioned the current ex cop Chris Dorner incident, and when you did the back and forth on it was anything but what I would expect from ATS' "top members", in fact it was kind of embarrassing to listen to.

I did not hear the beginning about the gun topics, and from the sounds of it I am glad that I didn't.

Hope the future shows are much better than this one was. Maybe you need to involve the members a little more to get a good back and forth going. Also the comments about members postings, and ATS being just a forum? Nice touch on shooting down your listener base!

I agree with those above. I tuned in just once, heard the same old stuff, presented in the same way, as I hear on the msm, I was so dissapointed I've never bothered since.

I find it interesting how so many first time listeners seem to be critical of the show.

Condeming something when you've only heard it once seems a little odd.

Still, I offer the same thing to each person - pick a topic and come on the show. Work to the same constraints as we do and within the ATS T&C. I'll give you 15 mins to show us how it's done.

Or, conversely, link me to your radio shows and let me critique them.

Any takers?

I've listened several times and feel like most of the topic didn't really have substance, in that they only seem to want to talk about their own views and don't really delve into any other progressive ideas that someone else may have. A bit narrow-minded if you ask me. The show itself is a great idea and definitely raises interesting topics, but I think it would be advantageous to maybe put up a thread 2 or 3 days before the show(Instead of the day of) explaining which specific topics will be discussed and let people make some of their own conclusions including main points and links to important posts from the respective thread(s) of each topic. Just my 2 cents. Not saying the show is bad, just that there could be some improvements.

Also is their a feedback thread/forum specifically for the show? I think there is but im honestly not sure. This might make you guys able to improve on the show with each air.

I enjoy the show every week and enjoyed it last night as well. Stop complaining about how it was the first time and not up to snuff. So what if Neph complained about guns at first. He's the host, and he's anti-gun, big deal. Don't stop listening because you didn't like the first one you heard. They were having obvious technical difficulties last night, and I think they were also having problems with Skype. Last night, they never appeared online on Skype, so they were probably having problems with it. They've been online every other time I've tuned in.

Would you like a little cheese with that whine?

There is a whole forum dedicated to the show, and individual threads for each week's programme for folks to comment on it.

Explanation: I have been present in the ATS chat room for over 100 ATS Live Radio shows and many other ATS radio shows such as ATS BuschcraftOnFire and ATS AfterMidnight plus the very odd and rare Political show and Euro show!

Personal Disclosure: So I deeply appreciate the efforts anybody makes to call into the show [
@ George ] ok.

And I can only recommend that my fellow members listen to the recorded shows @ Illustrial and read the ATS Live Forum Threads to get a deeper understanding of the great efforts and lengths the unpaid hosts, honoured guests and also the small but consistent loyal listening base in the chatroom, go to with our personal time, hardware and dedicated passion in bringing the best ATS radio shows we all can for the wider listening audience.

The various shows come to air ad free, except to promote the various ATS radio shows themselves, and also for free.

I hope these minor issues can be overcome and I recommend that my fellow members try, try and try again.

You get out of it what you put into it ok, so please bare with it and be persistant ok!

16 replies but 28 flags and a bunch of stars tells me that you guys are taking a talk show way too seriously. It's light banter. What do you want, screaming and fighting like on Jerry Springer? Lighten up.

I've listened in twice and enjoyed it both times. I'm just too tired to tune in every Saturday.
