SGT Report under attack today

Just a heads up, SGTreport.com is under attack and going there will result in malware being downloaded to your computer. From what I can tell it turns off the firewall. I visited the site using a basic VMware machine and it caused some problems with it. I know there are some people here at ATS that visit SGTreport.

just a q / a , will browsing from a VM keep out malware? I've played with VMbox but just for running other OS's didn't know it would help w/ malware

A virtual machine is great for testing stuff, but because the virtual NIC is bridged with the physical NIC on your real PC you better have great virus protection and a good firewall setup on your physical machine. A VM is great for testing software, virus and malware effects, etc.

Use firefox.
And get one of the malware blocking plugins and java script blockers.

And maybe a plugin that will block ad networks.
Usually it's an ad network serving malicious ads.
