Facebook mobile app

Ok so this happened about one minute ago, i was browsing facebook and a friend messaged me. Here's the freaky part: my phone vibrated the same moment i got the message, two times, just like when you get a facebook message. I'm always logged off on my phone so i checked to see what the hell. Not too surprisingly i get the facebook notification icon, the sender and part of the message, i select it but then it asked me to input my password because i was not logged in.

Tested it with a friend and nontheless i still got notifications even though i was logged off.

I consider this to be further proof that Facebook is a personal information mining platform and profile compiler, because it stays active even if you are logged off and it still sends data to the servers, data collected from its surroundings.

Last year, while i was sniffing data packets from my computer to test something, the program picked up a data packet named fbwxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (x is my facebook id number) which was sent from my webcam driver to a fbcdn URL (Facebook Content Delivery Network). I think this was a screenshot sent from my webcam to facebook's clouds. Unfortunately i wasn't too clever to take a screenshot, sorry.

So i want to ask you guys and tech heads if you have encountered any of these strange happenings(?).

I could be wrong but theres an fb app and there the facebook platform. Both of which open and keep you logged in once you do. Now, the phone app usually stays logged in no matter what, unless you tell it to log off, including power cycling your phone. Hope this helps.

You could be right but it would be highly illiegal and damaging to their shareolders, which believe it or not, they cannot afford.

Yeah, I tried deleting the app because it was pre-installed on my phone. Thought I deleted it, kept getting notifications. When I go to my apps screen it's still there, even after dragging it to the trash.
This makes me extremely mad.

I usually force shut down every unused app from the task manager, and its an official facebook release app (i don't like the copycat ones and i don't trust them), so its very peculiar that it was stil logged on and stil sending notifications. Glitch maybe?

And they can be on to me all they want, i haven't got any dirt they could use against me ^^

I have mine set up to send an email to me if I get a facebook message.
So if someone messages me, my hotmail tells me.
Once I shut off my hotmail instant notification, no more irritating alerts, until I update my hotmail emails.

Also, keep location services off for Facebook and cameras.

There is a Facebook Messaging App, and a Facebook App, both have push notifications upon receiving a private message. It is very likely one or the other remained active and logged on. I have never had this issue. The programs always run in the background unless you manually terminate them in a task manager.

Assuming it is an apple device, be aware that "push messages" are independent of being logged in. In other words, you can and will receive facebook notifications even if you log out of the mobile app.

If you don't want to receive FB notifications anymore, go to settings, Notifications and turn off Facebook.

Not an apple device, its a Samsung Galaxy S+.

Another wierd one: i uninstalled the app because anyway i'm not using it that much and i will get rid of the annoing notifications, but i still got one message notification shortly after uninstalling but that was the last one.

So why would it still send me a notif. if its not installed? Hmm. Makes you wonder how these apps are programmed to work.
