Looks cool if it wasn't fake but then again why wouldn't it look fake...I've never seen one before

Nintendo is rumored to be working on one and Sony Playstation have held a neural interface patent for a number of years.

Even though its a fake, the concept is already in the making.
Its something that I think could be the future of TV and Consoles etc. I was talking with colleagues recently and was suggesting to them that the Future of TV could be a Hologram in the middle of a Table in the Middle of the Living room. like in the star wars film. they already have hologram keyboards so anything is possible. its all down to cost at the moment but it will come.

Does this mean that the robots and humans in The Matrix are run by Sony's "future" Neural Interface.
jk

Though, the gamer in me would absolutely think it would be awesome to hook up a sort of electronic induced sensory perception to videogames, Taking AR to a whole new level.

This is from 2009 in Tokyo

Touchable Holography made with Wii Remotes and Ultrasound
Touchable Holography

The video above shows a system utilizing the Nintendo Wii Remote, an airborne ultrasound display, and holographic unit, to produce Touchable Holography. The demonstration includes a holographic ball which can be moved by pushing it with the hand, or laying your palm flat and it being dropped and bouncing off.

This interaction alone is impressive, but the researchers went one step further and added touch feedback so you can “feel” what is happening too. This is achieved with the airborne ultrasound display matching what is happening with the hologram. The ultrasound waves can apply a force of 1.6 grams and can be directed on to a 20mm area making it quite accurate.

Examples include holographic rain drops falling on an open palm which you can apparently feel. A small animal also runs around your hand with the touch matching the movement.

Now this just makes me nerd out, I'm looking forward to the rise in this development of gaming.

I would not doubt something like this existing. Have you seen the tupac hologram? The tupac hologram is more complicated then that game.

This video seems fake.... If they are not supposed to be their then why would they show their face?

Why fight Sony/Samsung/Visio/etc for Holo-Tv when the most abstract concepts can be the real moneymaker.

For example, consider a variation of the the Holodeck design offered on Star Trek and create a Holo-Decorator that projects any image you wish over the "bare walls" of a given room. Giving the impression of say, a rustic lodge, a medieval castle, etc.

Hollywood will love you.

Infinity - For the same reason countless young men and women tape themselves beating the # out of each other, having sex, or committing crimes? For the same reason that people try and break onto secret government bases? I don't know, general stupidity?

Funny you should say that....the answer is actually yes
Playstation Mind Beam
Sony Brain Beam

Sony has a patent that may take game playing to a whole new level. The patent covers the use of ultrasound to target areas of the brain in order to create the experience of seeing images, experiencing tastes, and hearing sounds. The technology would use ultrasound pulses to modify firing patterns within the human brain to create those experiences. The patent application was filed in 2000, awarded in March 2003, and has been updated steadily (most recently in December of last year). Though exciting, the patent has not been utilized in any experiments to test its validity. If the patent is one day used in an actual device, we may see the PlayStation Portable (see our review) offer a whole new level of entertainment for its users. It's also feasible that the technology could eliminate the need for physical displays on mobile devices, relying instead on images beamed into the brain.

Great. Just imagine someday if your console screws up and won't turn off. You'd be stuck in some future version of Modern Warfare. It does say that it can make you see, hear, and smell things. Maybe that's what all those crazy people riding the bus are .... beta testers for failed Sony neural patent research!

The video provided in the OP is a complete hoax.

But like many hoaxes, they at the very least serve as a representation for something very real.

Holographic video games will be popping up probably around the time the gubment discloses UFOs, unfortunately.

I say that because how old is the xbox? Jeees these guys know how to milk a product.

Visual imagery is NOT the future of gaming. I already have many ideas and prototypes of full sensory stimulation. Add that to a way to stimulate the brain to create self or programmed created reality for virtual reality. Just imagine the positive possibilities for things like self healing therapy to training in various things in a virtual world. Technology in general needs a creative kick in the ass and needs to stop rehashing the same stuff. The future is now.

I so want one..

That system looks cool... Wouldn't it hurt yours eyes when playing in the dark though?

I don't think I can imagine resident evil playing on that.

Virtual Reality Therapy

Like this?

What prototypes do you have?

There is a company called Oculus Rift that is making a virtual reality headset for the next gen gaming consoles. Team that up with GTA etc and gaming will completely change.

I get motion sickness when I play some games, I wonder if the VR headset will aggravate or lessen my problem?
