It would not be easy,war is never easy,but right now they are bunched up in their own country and the name of the cold war game is containment,There is a ninja fighting tactic where by when they strike at you with a fist you strike the limb.
China cannot sneak out millions of people every vehicle would be destroyed. Their pilots are poor as can be depicted by the "buzzing" incident where their aircraft struck our Orion,we buzz Russian Bears all the time.
ICBMs and other stand off weapons aren't numerous or much better.
I doubt an occupation would be in order in fact if the leadership was decapitated and the military crippled,I'm sure the people would take care of them selves.

China could threaten to dump our bonds en masse which would collapse the bond market. It would not be in their best interests financially to do so but it would be the death knell for this country as a financial collapse would ensue (first high interest rates then a dollar collapse). The Chinese would probably be bluffing but at great risk if it was a calculated move (sacrifice a bishop to take a queen on the chessboard). It would also give them leverage in proposing a swap: debt for land or gold or both.
