This is so sad when you consider that the owner of the gun shop was advertising a concealed carry gun class.
We tell people that they need to take this class to be safe then we tell someone who is trying to comply with the rules that they can not save some money for complying with the law????

...So it's ok for gun shop owners to turn away Obama voters but not ok for Groupon to turn away gun shop owners?

The right??? GroupOn is a private company and can refuse to do business with whomever they choose. Having said that, I am about as pro gun as anyone can be, but I am also about as pro liberty as anyone can be, and having the right to decide who to do business with, as well as who not to do business with is very important to a private sector business maintaining it's liberty. I will not use GroupOn for anything because of this... I will vote with my wallet, and that is my right.

I do not care who someone voted for and understand the right for a business to decline service to someone but for the company to call the owner and tell him that he needed to expand his ad, take his money, and then tell him that they would not honor a contract is where my problem is.

A business can refuse access to their business to a gun owner if they want to.

It's freeeeeeeedom.

I think it sucks...but Groupon may well be dealing with an impossible choice too. Take the gun class client and lose others who may already have warned them about this, given the situation in the nation now, or do this. Decline the one for the good of keeping the rest.

It's a hard thing and a hard deal ....but it's a hard world right now too. A company like BofA with their nonsense has no excuse. They are TOO BIG to claim such concerns and they were being ideological elitists. Groupon isn't big enough to take on a controversial client, as it may happen?

I wonder if some businesses are starting to deal with online contracts the same way pornography is dealt with? Basically "If you service those clients, we don't use you" and heard from client after client. That's ONE way for society to hurt the gun industry with no Gov needed. Interesting and S/F for sharing.

So is Hobby Lobby but no one is stopping the Government from screwing them over.

Also I agree, they have the right to refuse but now Groupon lost my business.

As stated above, a private business can accept or deny your money, it is their call. You probably should have just went with the article title.

It is interesting! I don't know why I'm the only one but that flag there was from me..lol

If anything, you would think a safety and licensing class would be accepted. It's a great thing to share, to be sure. It helps everyone know how far it's really going out there.

Groupon is still in business?

In April 2010, the company was valued at $1.35 billion. According to a December 2010 report conducted by Groupon's marketing association and reported in Forbes Magazine and the Wall Street Journal, Groupon was "projecting that the company is on pace to make $1 billion in sales faster than any other business, ever".

However, a report from Forrester Research in October 2011 suggested that the Groupon business model was a "disaster" and that the firm had become an example of "how fast an Internet darling can fall."

In its first earnings release as a public company, Groupon reported a 2011 fourth-quarter loss of $9.8 million on an adjusted basis, disappointing investors

Additional investor concern arose after the company restated 2011 revenues downward in March 2012.

Gotta love these businesses that are worth billions that lose millions.

For classes? Wow. I would think that with all the frenzy and state legislation over gun control, advertising guns online may be a bit sketchy but this is education.
For god's sake, these people are going to be packing heat anyway so they might as well know how to do it safely
