I moved house recently and have been without the internet for over a month. Let me tell you folks, the propaganda of the Nazis or the Soviet Union has nothing on what can only be described as the artform that is the lies and deception fed to the masses of the 21st century.

Being without any form of alternative media has served to remind me why TPTB want to censor the internet and such a huge effort is now being made in the MSM right now to undermine the 'conspiracy theory' movement. Alex Jones' recent appearance on Piers Morgan served this purpose in a spectacular fashion, as he single handedly made people who question the goverment appear to be aggressive, unstable crackpots (ie, the kind of people who should NOT own guns), whether Jones was complicit in serving that purpose is for another thread. Watching him on the MSM though, that is how he came across- unstable.

It won't be long now until 'conspiracy theorists' are labelled officially 'crazy' or 'enemies of the state' just as Nazi Germany labelled political opponents 'Communists' and I'm sure it will tie in with gun control at some point.

When we look back at Nazi Germany, political opponents (today's conspiracy theorists) were disarmed, and technology to carry out surveillance has advanced quite a lot since those days given we have fusion centers collecting data on everyone. Your right to bear arms will be severely undermined if you have expressed suspicion towards your government and it's all recorded and on file. Nazi Germany also started with assault rifles and military style weapons-

www.stephenhalbrook.com...

(Above is a very interesting look into Nazi gun control and how the 'Commnists' or political opponents were disarmed, starting with military style weapons and rifles.)

Moving on I was horrified by the outright propaganda of the events in Mali. With no internet access, I had to rely on the MSM and I'm telling you, they do it so well I was almost convinced. The official story the MSM gives is as follows-

- Evil Islamists invade Mali, take over and put the people under terrible living conditions

- France, with international support, decide to stand up for democracy and freedom and intervene militarily.

- Videos showing Al Qaeda linked Islamists cutting off people's hands etc

At this point, I'm thinking well done France, doing the right thing and helping the people. Although...

It only took a few hours of research with the internet back up to realise that Mali is the third biggest gold producer in Africa, the MSM didn't mention anything about that. The reality of what happens in Africa is enough to make one feel ill, as European powers and increasingly America and China rush to snap up as much control of Africa as possible.

Africa holds incredible amounts of gold, diamonds and oil etc and that is what it is all about, the African people suffer and starve, our nations fund dictators to keep the people down and away from what is rightfully theirs so
we can plunder their land. If it isn't going our way then 'rebels' turn up to create instability and we then impose puppet dictators. Millions starve to death and suffer so corporations can profit and that is the sick, twisted reality.

This year, America is set to be militarily involved in 35 African nations in this 'war on terror' as Al Qaeda conveninently moves into Africa. It seems as though Al Qaeda pop up wherever America has a geopolitical interest. Given Al Qaeda was created by the CIA in the first place, this shouldn't really surprise anyone.

www.zerohedge.com...

U.S. Army teams will be deploying to as many as 35 African countries early next year for training programs and other operations as part of an increased Pentagon role in Africa. The move would see small teams of U.S. troops dispatched to countries with groups allegedly linked to al-Qaeda, such as Libya, Sudan, Algeria and Niger. The teams are from a U.S. brigade that has the capability to use drones for military operations in Africa if granted permission. The deployment could also potentially lay the groundwork for future U.S. military intervention in Africa.

When a resource rich nation actually tries to spread the wealth amongst the people, as we saw in Libya as Gaddaffi turned one of the poorest nations on Earth into the most prosperous in Africa, 'we' then support those linked with Al Qaeda to cause trouble and instability in order to get rid of that leader and put the nation into chaos- as this opens the door for the MSM to lie and create a false reality of the situation to justify an unjust war against that country. It is as corrupt and immoral as is possible.

Overall, the point is don't be too hard on people who are unwilling to look into the truth and reality, the MSM is an incredibly effective and manipulative brainwashing tool, without the internet and alternative media, it is easy to fall for their lies. This is why sites like ATS and alternative media news sources are vital and are increasingly under attack, because TPTB want the people to be in the dark about the truth.

I have a feeling events are going to happen quickly in 2013, a lot is moving into place. There's almost a feeling of there being a race- gun control, Syria getting worse by the day, Egypt and the Muslim Brotherhood, the world economy on the verge of collapse, plus the MSM have been VERY quiet on Iran lately and I find that unsettling because early 2013 is the time I fear 'the event' that will lead to an Iranian conflict will happen- the 'event' being something that will instigate huge tenstions between Iran and Israel.

It`s also no coincidence that germany very recently requested/demanded that France return 374 million tons of gold that france has been holding for germany for safe keeping. I suppose if France no longer has all that gold they will need to get some from "somewhere".

I think you are a little off with the quants there mate.

Germany wants 674 tons of solid gold bars back. The Federal Reserve Bank must gather their portion of Germany’s $36 billion in gold together and return it. The 54,000 solid gold bars are reportedly stored in both New York City and at the Banque de France in Paris. Read more at www.inquisitr.com...

Excellent observation(s) there. Although ATS members' opinion differ greatly in a number of areas we need threads like this to remind us of what drew the majority of us here in the first place and to remain steadfast in our resolve for truth, no matter how ugly or uncomfortable it make one feel.

Indeed the truth is stranger that fiction and is not easy to swallow by the masses. If Facebook and YouTube is the norm for social dialogue among the masses, we all have our work cut out for us.

The MSM propaganda machine is very well oiled and tuned. We must fight fire with fire.

The statement that the Nazis took the weapons from the people after they came to power is incorrect, no matter how often it is repeated these days on ATS.

In fact, the Waffengesetz, which was introduced in 1938, made it much more easy for the population to own guns, it just regulated that certain minority groups were not allowed to own weapons. This is entirely different from what is currently happening in the USA.

For the rest, I wholeheartedly agree with what the OP said. The difference between the former Soviet States and the Western World is, that the people in the Soviet states were absolutely aware that what the media tells them is propaganda, while the "westerners" think they are being independently informed.

Now who are the real masters of propaganda ?

The actual technicalities are very often misinterpreted, but the gun laws were 'relaxed' in 1938 after the political opponents had been removed. Anyone who may have had Communist tendencies or sympathies were often raided and guns conviscated, this began as soon as the Nazis came to power.

Communists in this sense were simply 'enemies of the state' or political opponents, this is the 'conspiracy theorist' of today. The similarity today is the government's seeming path of characterising 'conspiracy theorists' as enemies of the state and dangerous, the Nazis never had to change laws, they just used the current gun laws of the time to suit them by taking guns off anyone who may have been against the Nationalist Socialist Party.
