Croatia snowfall shatters record set in 1861

"Just want to inform you about epochal snow event in Croatian capital Zagreb (SE Europe)," says reader Mihael Krstic.

"We have new record snow depth for January set to 68cm (27 inches) beating previous 49cm (19 inches) and all of that in just 24 hours! That's biggest snowfall from 1861.

"More snow is on the way until end of the week!

Now, that is what I call a snowfall!

I live in Alberta, Canada and I have never seen anything like this here.

I wanted to share the video for 2 reasons; First, Holy crap what a lot of snow and secondly, anyone else find it amusing when the person continuously hits their car door until it opens more?

I kept laughing as they kept hitting!

I'm not one of those people that sweeps off their car, so I would try to drive with it like this.

As long as the windshield wipers work...

Yes...I have a thought; I am glad I don't live in Croatia; I have never seen as much snow as that! I live in Seattle...and if this city gets a few inches of snow; it shuts down as much as possible.

this surely does not look like 27" deep snow here
must of been measured somewhere else as this lady isn't contending with nothing close
makes me glad i'm in las vegas though...

That is amazing, and yeah, funny. Climate records are being broken almost on a daily basis now, this too is amazing.

A small snowfall like that and they are getting all weird. We used to get storms like that on a regular basis. I thought I was going to see something great, how disappointing. Getting two feet of snow used to be the norm although lately we have not been getting too many of those. Climate change rocks Bring on the Bermuda weather.

Check out Mammoth, Ca. , this year Mammoth Mountain is reporting 94-192 in. and it's an off year . Last year they had 60 feet in places .

Op, where I grew up In Colorado, in the 70s, we used to get 8 feet of snow. It was insane.
But super fun as a kid.

How's this for snow? Got all of this last week when about 80-90 cm fell pretty much overnight.

Fun times.

Wow that lady obviously doesnt give a dam about the paintwork on her car.

It snowed pretty heavily here in the south west of the UK yesterday. But its starting to melt pretty quickly today.

Every time I hear some jovial person whistling the tune "Let It Snow", I just want to whack them upside the head with my $60 Canadian Tire ergonomically shaped snow shovel.

It's beautiful to look at on the tops of trees, but chaotic to deal with.
