But so few do 'link articles' to support their viewpoint. Most just 'yell' what they believe without and reason or thought without any substaniation.

A civil (I repeat civil) argument, with supported arugments and limited scope, does, in fact, does serve the interests of growth and understanding.

Most of the so-called arguments I see on ATS and I'm new are just people screaming - you're wrong, I'm right, you're an idiot and that is not productive.

I wonder if you really mean consensus as in deliberate and reasoned agreement. I see most of the gun 'debate' to be sensationalist and unreasoned in the extreme and that is why I am not participating.

Well I actually never suggested that said consensus was based on reason or logic, as it does not have be. It could be just as unreasonable as an uneducated opinion, or based on an ad populum.

This made me laugh harder than it probably should have. It's too bad that most (if not all) of it is true! However, most of the time I don't go back to a page is because I forget I posted there. Oops on my part!
