Heres why gun control is a bad idea!

I live in the UK and i remember when the police came and arrested my Dad because he refused to hand in his fire arms after they was band,
as a kid it wasn't my Dads guns that scared me it was when a bunch of cops came into our home unannounced and
dragged him away.
that was the only trouble my dad got in in his in-tire life.


Now there are more guns than ever in the wrong hand.

That's terrible! Can you elaborate?
How old were you? How long was he locked up for? Did he have a hearing? How did they know to come and get him? Were others you or he knew that were also arrested for not complying? What did he do for a living? Was he a hunter? Did he have one or more guns?

If they were to take the guns away here in the US, that would not stop the criminals from having them.
It would only leave the rest of us defenseless. Some don't seem to care but a majority of the public do.

The people who believe that they can be protected by the police 24/7 are ignorant and naive.
We can not expect the police to be every where at one time.
It's just not possible.
And crime is a non-stop criminal activity.....

What is so irritating about the whole issue is the administration using the school shooting [children] and exploiting it to advance their agenda forward. Disgusting and despicable IMO....

Violence as a whole needs to be addressed.
Along with Mental Issues....

ETA: After Hurricane Katrina, the cops confiscated guns from some areas. That in turn left them unarmed and defenseless when the gangs broke in to their homes.
That is one scenario I would not like to see across our country.

Agreed. It was a really dumb move to reduce the police forces (especially in Detroit and Camden, NJ) before making a gun grab. Very stupid indeed.

Yeah the main reason they stopped guns here was after the in 1997 Dunblane school massacre but before that gun contol got tighter every year as they tried to stop so many people owning guns.
My Dad used to go shooting at the weekend and worked as an engineer.
But came from a farming back ground.

As for when he was arrested he only spent the night there from what i remember and may have got a fine or such as but he did lose his right to own a gun and had to sign for them to be destroyed.
It was down to the type of gun that it was (A Rifle)
