What is Kufr? Who is a Kafir?

The word kafir is used very loosely and even derrogatorily.
Its also used synomously with 'non-muslim' which is not exactly true.
The same goes when that arabic word is translated as 'non-muslim' in a translation of Qur'an making the ayah(verse) appear more extreme and rude.
So here's the meaning of the word kufr(verb) and Kafir(Noun)
the word kufr literally means to 'cover up'
that means to hide/cover/deny 'after' knowing the Truth.
Denying a Truth( here, God) after realising it is kufr. The one who does that is kafir.

I think the Muslim religion says that the followers of Mohamed will be able to see the word Kafir on the foreheads of the enemies of Islam, I think. I'm not sure, but I do think I read that some where.

thats amusing! But not true, its true how information can be twisted and used to spread hatred. The true information is, "the word 'kafir' would be visible on the forehead of Anti-Christ."

The Sahabi, the prophets followers would be able to see this word.
Anyway, religion is not my strong point, but I wasn't far off.

yes, learning is good. Also Sahabi are the companions of Prophet(during his time). The followers in general are not called that. If you must know, followers are called ummati belonging to one ummah(nation).

I wonder if K-F-R on the forehead of the anti-christ is somehow related to the mark of the beast, i.e - 666.

Interestingly... I just found out that Hebrew also has the same words

Kufr = Kefirah ... meaning "negation of the faith" / "disbelief"
Kāfir = Kofer... meaning "coverer" / "unbeliever" / "a person who hides or covers the truth"

Could the "mark of the beast" be symbolic of peoples negation of faith?
The followers of Dajjal / anti-christ would have the mark in the sense, they willingly negate their faith. So nobody can be fooled into accepting the "mark".

What i know, a beast would emerge and mark all people clearly as believers or disbelievers. But thats a later event, close to the sun rising from west(either just before or just after it) also i dont know if there's a mark only for disbelievers or marks for both kind, just different shape etc.

The bible speaks of a beast from the "earth" who would deceive people and enforce the mark.

The Koran reveals this....

And when the Word is fulfilled against them (the unjust), we shall produce from the earth a beast to (face) them: He will speak to them, for that mankind did not believe with assurance in Our Signs.
-Koran 27:82


If this refers to the anti-christ, then it means the dajjal / anti-christ speaks to mankind to separate the believers from the unbelievers. This beast will mark the unbelievers. He is a tool which will be used by God to cleanse the earth.

what about the word KFIR if you search you can find Israel military, KFIR music of a Israeli music and even name of some persons. how do they pronounce this word KFIR and what do they mean by that word.
