Hey now.... You know the lower is really just an alloy box with rounded edges when it comes down to the world of 3-d printing.

Progress indeed..... Who needs Colt when one can get a 3-D Printer and the Internet? Progress never just happens on this stuff. Dumb has to happen to push progress along a bit. Yup... Right on Que, Dumb comes along to 'happen'.

Just go and download the files you know you want them. I liked the critique after I read the site. It seems there is a lot of carving and smoothing you have to do after your print them and that requires a lot of experience with the magazine feed systems and of course a lot of trigger time to get just right.

If you can afford a 3d printer then why not just buy a high quality gun?

Very cool, however sadly this might be the reason in the future why they will create policies in DC to ensure that consumers don't get their hands on this technology or they will heavily regulate that darn printer.

I wonder how many of the top lobbying industries wouldn't want this technology out for everyone to use? I'm sure they are enjoying this.

we have gotten into the lovely world of security systems......the 'good' thieves are always two steps ahead of any tech on the common market......Our technology has gotten to the point that a weapon is not just going to be from a gun manufacturer....soon, our basement nerds will be cranking out better weapons than the DOD......

PS-coming soon, the 3D printed M1-A2 and attack drone

Progress will overcome our servants and they will one day be on the corner with their tails between their legs where they belong.

Like my avatar says... Read BANNED Books (and videos and CAD files)

It seems to me that the only two parts that cannot be printed with current tech are the barrel and the chamber. I think you need some springs as well. There is the weak spot. Ban those evil springs!

Laws that makes people "feel" their rights are impeded always spawn some type of criminal activity, when drug laws were implemented the drug dealer was born. Otherwise it was their General Goods Store or local Soda/Drug shops which were legal.

Illegal activities will always spawn from the laws that make them illegal. When/If serious gun reform comes to the US, the dealers of these printed guns will be done by nerds in their basement like a prior comment said and the US will have a whole other problem on their hands.

The problem is that these cats are making videos.

Not just that, but...obnoxious videos at that.

I think it's cool technology, I think it's right that they offer this out there (anyone know if there's a fee?)

But the fact of the matter is, the act of putting these videos out there for almost spite, to push this in the face of an already volatile situation with comments like "how's that national conversation going?"...it's blatant in it's "eff you" context. It's now less that what it is, and more of a statement.

Problem is, this statement is just asking for confrontation, trouble, suppressing the true free market that it's trying to promote. Thus, by doing this this particular way, they bring a flash in the pan hoorah with increasing scrutiny, control and suppression, and thus the opposite of what they supposedly, from my point of view, are trying to promote.

A for effort, D- for execution.

They are close to the whole gun, give the programmers time they will figure out how to print it all. Here is another one that was almost all printed.

Oh how times have changed... When I grew up my highlight was making really cool menu systems using batch files in MS-DOS like a programming language. They worked too! I even found a way to password a menu option..all without leaving interconnected batch files! Heavy stuff back then..and high tech too!

Now? As others note, the nerds will be printing Tech-9's and Kel-tech 16's in their basements and learning the finer points of material strengths for exotic and undetectable materials able to withstand chamber pressures.

yeah.. Way to go Uncle Sammy! Talk about solving a problem. That's stickin' it to the pro-gunners. Just like Prohibition made Al Capone a broke down bum...errr.. wait..

I'd like to back up the OP with an interview conducted on infowars nightly news (yes I know you hate alex jones, don't watch it then) with Cody Wilson, the guy who made the magazine. He makes some pretty good points on how this could be the future.
