"""JUST BECAUSE A COMPOUND
HAS AN ELEMENT (e.g. PLATINUM)
DOES NOT MEAN THAT SAID
ELEMENT IS DANGEROUS.
IN THIS CASE, THE COMPOUND ALSO
CONTAINS NITROGEN, WHICH MAKES
UP 79% OF THE AIR YOU BREATHE""""

Tell that to the DNA damaged snails!!!! That was the whole point of this thread. Platinum effects cell division. I thoroughly gave sources proving this.

""The above calculations are only relevant if we assume Pt particulates in the air from car exhaust are at least partially PtCl2, which you're assuming in your OP. (They're not.) """

And you have exact calculations of how much platinum dust has ran off the roads and been absorbed by the crops and how much we are breathing in the air (in a bigger city)?

NO you don't, you are guessing.

Thanks for derailing my thread with your non-facts and guessing.

The "fact" is that car exhaust is not made up of PLATINUM CHLORIDE while PLATINUM CHLORIDE was used in your experiments.

PLATINUM CHLORIDE is not the same as PLATINUM or any other PLATINUM COMPOUND.

Hell, look up cis and trans isomers and how in one case, the cis isomer cured a disease while the trans killed everyone. That's how important minor differences are in chemistry.
