Americans die younger and have more illnesses and accidents on average than people in other high-income countries—even wealthier, insured, college-educated Americans, a report said Wednesday.
The study by the federally sponsored National Research Council and Institute of Medicine found the U.S. near the bottom of 17 affluent countries for life expectancy, with high rates of obesity and diabetes, heart disease, chronic lung disease and arthritis, as well as infant mortality, injuries, homicides, teen pregnancy, drug deaths and sexually transmitted diseases.

Im in the midwest around Chicago, I've lived in New York, Vegas, and Tennessee ......all f these places have one thing in common: SOOOO MANY FAT PEOPLE!!!!!!!
Fast food is king, soft drinks the size of milk gallons, portions at restaurants are 3 people sized for 1 person, not to mention huge salad, huge appetizer, etc
They give out pain killers like tic tacs. Big Pharma has become legalized drug dealers. I have lost a cousin and friend from pain killer addictions.
It's the mentality here. Go big (literally) or go home. Big truck, Big house, Big food, Big gut, Big alcoholism, Big drug addiction, Big Big Big .......
So I'm not surprised. I'm a U.S. Citizen born and raised, but sometimes feel like an alien amongst the rest of the folks here
