Actually there is a peaceful way to overthrow the government in this country , without the need for bloodshed and without the need for guns (although I am armed so

) I spent the better part of my life investigating and arresting people for violating others rights, I had stumbled across this little gem called:

A Constitutional Convention.

It's legal, it can be done (everyone's afraid to though) and it's written into the framework. We can change things legally, peacefully and well....

maybe for the better..

Not all change has to come at the barrel of a gun (although it makes the job a lot easier sometimes)

I must jump in and say, as an American citizen born and raised, of 1/2 approx Finnish decent. If the hypothetical situation just mentioned were true, I would be tempted to expatriate to Finland. Theoretically of course, in all reality that event could never occur, except perhaps in the most random of parallel realities.

When I read your OP, I initially wanted to applaud you, many Americans feel this way, or at least feel a deep dis-ease from knowing that it is true.

But if you are not an American, and you are here on ATS trying to suggest that people do what would never happen in Scandinavia then that is utterly ludicrous.

And actually hilarious, and yes, way funnier then a Hawking-Zombie with a remote vocoder, which was previously the weirdest thread on ATS all week.

So what's the rub?

I picked Finland because it's funny to juxtapose the idea of armed revolt and Finland. Very funny.

Your last post was very confusing, i honestly didn't understand anything from it.

In your first post in this thread just somehow indicated that i was from Finland. I got confused because Finland isn't even in Scandinavia. I honestly tried subtly to tell you that i was not from Finland but apparently you didn't get it.

Yeah, but still. Why would he automatically assume that i am from Finland? It seems he thinks Scandinavia and Finland is the same thing.

It doesn't matter, man, I'm satisfied, whether it has made sense to you or not. I will just ask you directly then: do you really feel comfortable shouting that crap from Scandinavia?

I mean, what have you had to tell yourself to make that OK? Do you not think that we know that? It all starts to feel a bit like we are being kicked when we are down and it gets frustrating. Some of us have had multiple chances to re-arrange our domestic situations, but we don't quit. I could have left more than twice, but I do not, because I could not live with the sense of failure and having given up.

The world is presently filled with many uncomfortable things, especially it seems, here in America. But it is our job as human beings to learn to accommodate the unease and discomfort, it stretches us and causes us to be more human.

I won't say exactly where I live in America, but it is an epicenter of social upheaval and rapid change. It requires the best of me everyday to not succumb to the darkness and quit. By the end of the day, I sometimes find myself actually having to work to be friendly and participate and not be a dick, and quit.

So that makes it extra hard, to be in the middle of it everyday working to make it work here in America, and some dude in Scandinavia tells us we are doing it wrong. Not only that, but as I said, i agree with your OP, and I could easily have ignored it if I had not seen the Scandinavia tag as your location. But otherwise, where do you get off?

Are you pissed cause we did nothing and you had to move, or just that we did nothing?

Though the post is a bit finger pointing, I agree with the message. It MAY come down to the American people to get the government back to its original purpose. This may be true for the Vatican, public schools and don't forget the God awful airlines. Maybe that seems a bit silly, but really they are connected. First TSA at airports, then schools, malls, court houses. Then we move to state lines, major highways and state and national parks.
