Google news ran this link:
news.google.com...

Entitled:
17 billion Earth-size alien planets inhabit Milky Way

But the news article has been taken down and removed.

It was ran by NBC news.

I found it again at this link:

thunderfeeds.com...

Again, the news article has been removed had taken down.

Why???

Is this yet another cover up of Aliens by the USA government???

edited later:
Strangely later this link started working. I guess the article was being edited. Sorry if I posted prematurely but it was very strange.

Thunderfeed link still down. Still very strange. Here

thunderfeed I get the error:
We cannot find the page you requested.
Error 404

The link you followed may be broken or expired. Please try your link again, or take a look at our homepage for today's top news. Below you can find today's most e-mailed and most viewed stories.

Which was like what I was getting at google news but I was able to get to it later after this posting from google.

Theres the drake equation which should turn up a good few number if we take probability into account, but also don;t discount the fact that most journalists are lucky to have a few braincells so probably someone emailed them and told them that 2+2 does NOT equal 5 and the editor being of sound mind and wanting to reduce the papers reputation any more would just pull it

The article is still available on Space.com where it originated plus a lot of other sites.

Link.

We all know the goverment keeps secrets from us, the question is, what should we do about it??

On topic - Dont know why anyone would hide this information? But if they are that good, i would think they would have stopped it before it got out, dont think there is a conspiracy behind this

Taken down, or rolled of the front page due to other articles being posted. Why would they block it out...silly sounding to me...

I think you should read a bit more closely:

17 billion Earth-size alien planets

Key word is SIZE, not LIKE, as your title states.

Just because there are 17 billion of the same size does not mean that they are remotely anything like earth, insofar as composition, etc.

No alien conspiracy, just jumping to conclusions by the OP.

And even though

Some Possibly Habitable
, that doesn't mean they are or were inhabited.

But it's cool think to think about.

The article from google news is different from the article at space.com. If someone could follow the links and give their side I would appreciate it.

UPDATE - I got screen shots of the different articles. Let me get them uploaded and I will post them.

Read the post above. The article is still up.

As much as it's disliked on here, the Huffington Post always has interesting stories on planet discoveries in their Science section.

maybe because they included the word "alien" implying inhabitation.

they inadvertently reported the truth.

Does anyone else feel like they've known about all these planets for a long time?

It seems like all of a sudden we went from never knowing about any planet outside our solar system (in the 80's into the 90's) to now new ones daily.

IDK, it's probably just because they've finally figured out how to spot them recently...but it does make me wonder...

So what did we learn from this? Settle down with knee-jerk reactions!

Just relax. Not everyone is "out to get you" or whatever.

Well the articles were different so I wont assume they were suppose to be the same article but I got the screen shots and posted them just in case.

Update - yeah when the articles wemt down I thought I had them. Oh well, maybe I did jump too quickly but you must admit I was quick on the draw. But, even though it does beg to differ. Would the public be told about another habitual earth or would our country rush to get their first to claim it first.

The paranoia that some members on here seem to have is UNBELIEVABLE at times, how much time and effort is wasted on here jumping to conclusions!

Maybe instead of worrying about guesstimated reports you could focus on the real ones backed up with solid data.

"Earth like" and "earth sized" are two different things. For example, the article states "earth sized" and you made up "earth like" and posted it here. Venus is about the same size of earth but nothing like it.
