I was hoping there'd be a little "punk" in the steampunk. Gilded-age rage, etc.

There is a thread that was posted last November but it quickly died. I hope this one catches on because I think steampunk is one of the coolest genres of all.

As to my sig quote. It has been attributed to so many different people in so many different forms that I don't think anyone really knows exactly where it originated. Even my version is at least a little different from anything that pops up in a Google search.

Like Asktheanimals, I also dig quirky, out-there music. I've never heard of these cats before today - time for me to do some researching (here goes another rabbit hole). I've dug steampunk art for quite a while now, but I hadn't even realized there was a soundtrack to it... guess I should've known vaudeville would be making a comeback eventually!

Thank you guys. I love all of the responses you have posted. They may not all be steampunk, but they are all very good. I am enjoying the alternative music as much as I enjoy the steampunk.

As a steam punk fan (if you can't tell from my avatar) I looked in to steam punk music several years back and didn't like the direction it was headed from what i hard heard. It had very little to do with steam punk imo. I am glad you started this thread because it gives me another opportunity to take a look and see what is out there music wise.

This isn't from a steam punk band but the song has a steam punk feel to it.

Interesting music. It's growing on me already. Without researching, I'm assuming there is an Industrial revolution theme throughout the genre? hence the steam?

Also, I can't help but picture an entire Tim Burton animated movie, scored with these flavors..

This has quite an epic sound to me..

I know this thread is quite old by ATS standards, but I just found this video that I feel would be a perfect reason to bump it up. The first is the actual music video and the second is the song from it with words onscreen.

I have subscribed to their channel and will post part two when it is released.
