The origins of wisdom

If we search for the origins of ancient wisdom among the literature of secret societys we are told again and again that it is antediluvian, that in antiquity a flood wiped out an advanced civilization and what survived are the remnants of their teachings. For example lets consider the following

"Then, fearing that all knowledge of the arts and sciences would be lost in the universal flood, he built two great columns upon a high hill-one of brass, to resist water, and one of granite, to resist fire. On the granite column was written in hieroglyphics a description of the subterranean apartments; on the one of brass, the rudiments of the arts and sciences."

"In a vision the Deity appeared to him in the visible shape of a pure golden triangle, and said to him, " Enoch, thou hast longed to know my true name: arise and follow me, and thou shalt know it.".....with the help of his son Methuselah, he excavated nine apartments, one above the other, and each roofed with an arch, as he had seen in his dream, the lowest being hewn out of the solid rock. In the crown of each arch he left a narrow aperture, closed with a square stone, and over the upper one he built a modest temple, roofless and of huge unhewn stones, to the Grand Architect of the Universe. Upon a triangular plate of gold, inlaid with many precious gems, he engraved the ineffable name of God, and sank the plate into one face of a cube of agate.

In the above we are told that Enoch made two pillars and engraved the esoteric teachings upon them fearing that they would be lost due to the impending flood. We are also told that one of these secrets was the name of god that was engraved on a golden triangle known as the delta of Enoch.

Now consider another legend:

"How this worthy Science was first begunne, I shall tell. Before Noah's Flood, there was a man called Lameck as it is written in the 4 Chap. of Gen.: and this Lameck had two Wives. The one was called Adah, and the other Zillah; by the first wife Adah he gott two Sons, the one called Jaball, and the other Juball, and by the other wife Zillah he got a Son and Daughter, and the four children found the beginning of all Crafts in the world. This Jaball was the elder Son, and he found the Craft of Geometric, and he parted flocks, as of Sheep and Lambs in the fields, and first wrought Houses of Stone and Tree, as it is noted in the Chap, aforesaid, and his Brother Juball found the crafte of Musick, of Songs, Organs and Harp. The Third Brother [Tubal-cain] found out Smith's craft to work Iron and steel, and their sister Naamah found out the art of Weaving. These children did know thatt God would take Vengeance for Sinne, either by fire or water, wherefor they wrote these Sciences which they had found in Two Pillars of stone, thatt they might be found after the Flood. The one stone was called Marbell--cannott burn with Fire, and the other was called Laturus [brass?], thatt cannott drown in the Water." The author of this Constitution there upon declares that one of these pillars was later discovered by Hermes, who communicated to mankind the secrets thereon inscribed.

In the above we are essentially told the same story except this time it is not Enoch who makes the pillars but children of Lameck. The two pillars therefore symbolically represent knowledge from before the flood!

If we follow the story of king Solomon now we find that the site he chooses to build his temple was on the foundation on which Enochs temple once stood. It was during excavations at that site that the workers discovered the nine arched subterranean vaults. The ninth and lowest contained the golden delta of Enoch which had gods true name inscribed upon it.

Who was the man overseeing the building of Solomon s temple? It was hiram abiff and what was Hiram murdered for? Around his neck he had hung by a string "the master jewel" a golden triangle upon which was inscribed what Freemasons call "the lost word"

The triangle and the two pillars therefore represent ancient knowledge from before the flood and any society that makes use of these symbols are essentially stating that their origins are from before the flood!

Excellent thread LUXUS! I'm not sure if you have come across the book, "The Hiram Key", but you might find it interesting and helpful in your research. It details the accounts of two initiated Freemasons, who were in actuality undercover researchers. Anyways, not to get off topic from your thread, the book begins with the death of Hiram Abiff and continues into the Soloman theory and where the location of what they found is today. Great book, and I don't want to spoil it for any future readers.

Also, I am a very spiritual person and have read many ancient texts. Currently, I am reading the bible for the first time ever, even though I have had a love for Jesus all of my life. It is my conclusion, as well, that an advanced society lived on earth before the great flood. On the doom and gloom side, I fear that our society is in the process of repeating history. On the bright side though, we have eternity to work out our problems and establish heaven on earth. Just try the best while you're here, and when in between.

I have heard of that book but never read it, its on the list. I have been tracking the roots of wisdom in antiquity for a very long time now, I feel that it is my personal goal to locate what remains of it.

It is a good read and for the first time it confirmed my personal research, the sons of god in the bible are the descendents of Cain!.....Cains father was not Adam but one of the Elohim.

The primary mystery of Genesis 6 is the identity of the Sons of God. Present-day commentators suggest that this may have been a tribe of exceptionally tall and handsome men who appeared and were irresistible to women. But the ancient rabbis were certain that the Sons of God were angels. (Although an alternate version in Aggadat Bere# identifies them as the Sons of Cain.)

Hi thanks for the great post. After the great flood the ancients re-established the Mystery Schools once again in Mexico. Mexico has the most and biggest Pyramids in the world, scatered through the south and also for a select few hidden in the deep jungles of the amazon and peru. At the same time the pyramids of Egypt towered in the desert sands. In the very same period temples built in pyramid style florished through the far east as well as some parts of India. The Ancients brought the mysteries with them and tried to reestablish what was once lost to the flood.

Makes so many things rush to my head. Wow.

I am also a seeker of ancient wisdom, and I would highly recommend this book! It has some interesting material, most of which was unknown to me, following the ancient Freemason/Pharaoh's secret to the stars that was lost with the death of Hiram. Anyways it continues through history, including the times of Moses and Jesus Christ, following the original Ancient Egyptian Mystery Schools. Then ending with the conclusion of where the Arc of the Covenant resides today.
