This great website is quickly becoming a cesspool of white supremacists, confederacy apologists and racists.

I hope the mods take drastic measures to prevent these types of threads from popping up.

Well Idaho Montana and Wyoming might just join you. Problem is the southern states still have plenty of sheeple too. But I could see the Union fractionalizing after a 3rd civil war and it might be for the better. I think the idea the states could not support themselves is mistaken. They would need to be more self sufficient and that is much easier today with the technology we have. All states could grow everything they import these days and trade with each other for manufactured things as they ramp up their own.

However the PTB have really hit the southern states environment hard with the oil spill in the gulf and their fake cleanup of it.

LOL, this is not a new dawn for the southern states. Where is all the government program help going to come from if we southerners split from the union? Come on, be realistic. This swath of the country is pretty damn poor. To go from bad to worse is not ideal. Wake up.

Texas can totally pull this off. We have a $1.7 trillion dollar per year economy, we produce the most oil and gas of any state in the union, we have our own power grid, a balanced budget, and we do it with no state income tax. We have industry, farming, ranching, fishing, seaports, refineries....I think we would be just fine. The money that our citizens would be paying to Uncle Sugar could turn around and be paid to the New Republic of Texas, and make us one hell of an ecomonic force. As for the various military bases in Texas, they can take those, and the soldiers that go with it, as that is US goverrnment property.

We could easily replace whatever revenue came from the military by opening up some casinos in the larger cities, and even bring back an old crop which used to be the backbone of the plains states.

The children here already are required to do two pledges of allegiance to flags: the first goes to the US flag, and the second is a pledge of allegiance to the Texas flag. They hold their hand, palms up to the flag, and say: "Honor the Texas flag; I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one state under God, one and indivisible."

So, from the time Texas kids get to school, their allegiances are divided. It's no great stretch of the imagination to think that they could cut out the pledge to the US flag if they were to secede.

Many people here speak wishfully for secession. We've signed the petitions, and we have been summarily ignored and dismissed. So, if it's gonna happen, we're gonna have to make it happen, and it won't be pretty.

I think one of the worse things to happen to U.S. government is having that idiot G.W.Bush and his idiot old man as president. I was literally ashamed for me country for 12 years and couldn't believe such idiotic good ol boys could even become pres. Most of today's issues is having to clean up their mess!

I think ur stupid for separating hillbilly rednecks against yankees.

You can stand united as 50 independent states.

I.e. texan's stand together in the country of Texas.

If so, it ain't going to happen. Remember the old adage, "United we stand, divided we fall"? If any state starts pulling away from the nation, then the nation weakens as a whole. I don't believe that's the path any of us wants this country to meander.

So what? We can stick to the left vs right illusion/paradigm that has been killing us for a while now?? When will people get it through their heads that nothing has gotten better, it doesn't matter who you elect; their agenda is the same. If we do this they will drag us all down with them into the abyss. They are all in it for themselves. It's stupid, ridiculous, and outrageous that politicians who don't do anything but cause more debt, and create ever expanding laws to satisfy of their own control; get paid more money than soldiers who defend and die for our country.

When was the last time a president ever took a bullet for you? I would imagine never. Then what? They increase taxes on everybody that makes less than them, so the rich keep getting richer, and the poor keep getting poorer. It's delusional that we put up with this nonsense. We, the people, need to take back this country from the traitors, swindlers, and bankers. Follow the money trail..

I would also like to point out that just about any state could secede from the federal government. We don't need them. There are plenty of countries smaller than any state or roughly same size that are sovereign.

"Yankee-run Federal Government"???? Lol, you're kidding, right? I agree that the Yankee-run Stock Exchange is corrupt as all get out, but most of the people in Congress standing in the way of any real governance or progress are Southern politicians who substitute religious dogma for rational thought processes.

On the other hand, be careful what you wish for. If we get that EMP or CME that the doomers have been predicting, you'll have plenty of 'secession' to deal with, just with the loss of electricity and all. And don't expect the feds to save your butt any more than Bush helped out at New Orleans. Things will get real local, real fast.

As someone now living in the beautiful Pacific NW, a pox on both your houses. The rest of the world is getting real tired of having you drag the rest of us down with your financial corruption, military horrors, and 'Christian' fairy tales.

Wait what? I'm so sick of people generalizing the south all the time. Go to Austin Texas and you'll change your mind. Not everyone in the south is racist or in the KKK.

And for all you people thinking succession is an act of terrorism or something, America wouldn't exist if we didn't succeed from the Brits.

There's LOTS of democrats and statists in the South... The South ain't really that different from the rest of the US... and demographics show that more and more with the influx of illegals, that Texas might even be a blue state in the 2016 election...

For the South to fix things, a whole lot of change is needed... hacks like Perry need to go... the statists need to be voted out of office... from whichever party they are. Just because the south is more republican doesn't mean it's less statists... most republicans nowadays are RINOS, not much different than the statists democrats.

So what you can't stand on your own two feet? "United we stand, divided we fall" was probably early man's attempt at "mind-control", to keep people from going out on their own and learning from their own experiences.

You have wheat down there in the South? Everything you need to be self-sustaining? Because once you break away from the US, they're going to impose economic sanctions on you. No one will be allowed to trade with you. They will blockade your ports with battleships and nuclear subs. They'll establish a no-fly zone. This is what America does.

You think they will just let you go? It'll be Civil War 2, but worse this time, because of WMD.

You'll have a huge border to defend against the US, and another one to defend against Mexico, who might take the opportunity of a weakened Union to do a little reconquista of Texas.

In short, it won't happen, friend, and if it does, it will be over quickly.

The South just have to threaten to nuke Washington DC and do the world a favor if they pull that crap. The people in Washington DC are cowards, they will back down.

Again, I'd like to reiterate that this is not about race, this is not about political orientation, this is about getting out from under the oppressive yolk of the federal government. I wanted to secede when Bush was in office. I briefly believed that things would turn around if Obama was reelected then quickly realized I had fell victim to his cult of personality. The answers do not lie in voting for this guy or voting for that.

If I could, I'd reelect Jefferson Davis, he was a good man. And I don't buy into any of that propaganda that says he's the devil and General Lee was his arch-demon Beelzebub. The real villains of that war were men like General Sherman. The man slaughtered and pillaged and burnt his way through Dixie, and if the war had gone the other way, he'd have been hung.

Yeah because life is so wonderful down in the South.

Why do they pay so crappy? What do you think would happen if money fails? The south already is like working/living in a third world country as far as I'm concerned. In fact I think they need to hand out passports to live here, because the south is the most horrible living conditions, overrun with Mexicans. People dirt poor because tight wad employers want the lion's share and treat others like slaves. For Florida to be sued a whopping 100 plus times for actual slavery in this year alone, yeah right the South is so great. You just want your slaves back. You all want all the work and none of the actual cost for that work, you want all the profits and not to pay the ordinary blue collar worker. It's a dirt hole down here in the south and they still have the same thinking they had pre-abolition. All it is is they are more like the north than they think they are; they are capitalist exploitationists. But at a whole new level.

Those conditions are everywhere, so stop smashing the south. Poverty and the mistreatment of others isn't strictly a Southern thing.

Ugh, Sir.

Your mind has taken you back to a place and time where nobody really wants to go.

If you are going to indulge in fantasy, why not try to make it pleasant.

Yeah right, I lived in the North my whole life the conditions compared to down here is like living in the Capital district (I would equate Florida to the 12th district) Of the Hunger Games and If you didn't read it then you might want to google the differences between those two districts in the book. I think it's a perfect metaphor to how the South is compared to the North.
