So, yet another another gun control thread, but lets think about this important question for the gun control advocates.

Q. What has the government done to gain your trust?

After all you must trust the government to call for them to take peoples guns.

Personally I cannot think of one reason why I would trust my government, they have given me no reason at all to trust them! We know of the corruption and illegal happenings in many areas of government (i will let you look all these up, too many to post).

So my question remains for the gun control lobby, what has the government done for you to trust them?

So far as i am concerned they have not gained my trust, but i am not
in the anti gun camp, i believe this all comes down to being self sufficient,
being self sufficient is every humans right. those who choose to become
career politicians often have a jaded protected view on the world that
is not mirrored in every day life, hence they forget what self sufficient
even means.......

So let me get this right, I have left this a while for a reply and it seems...

Those asking for a gun ban dont actually trust the government?

My word, so gun control advocates want a government who they dont trust to take all the guns?

Sorry; but that seems completely idiotic to me.

The government is looked upon as the "parent" of society. I think that idea is behind the resistance that occurs when it is suggested that the government possesses the decidedly non-nurturing traits of compromising its own citizens to obtain power and money.
But in my opinion, blind trust in anyone at all is a bad idea.

There are good people in the government as well as a few bad apples. The system does not always allow the brightest to rise to the top of the decision making process.... coupled with election fraud and many in both parties being bought and paid for by some Pac or Corporate interest does not help things. We as a nation must get control of the ballet box or the whole thing is a very bad joke. Voter fraud in any election should be the top story until the inaccuracies are resolved otherwise the will of the people will be for naught.

I would rephrase the title to "Blind Trust in Governance (and anything else for that matter) is a Damn Stupid Thing. This can include things like religion, television, food ingredients, air quality, and just about anything else you may read or hear on any media unless you are a first hand observer and/or can measure and record all of your surroundings all of the time.

At any rate, that is unlikely, so do your research and realize the only thing you have to trust and depend on is you and your family. Don't be distracted from that.

Blind trust in the government is just as stupid as blind faith in religion, but.... I can travel anywhere I want, anywhere in the U.S. I can live wherever I want, I can eat what I want, wear what I want, watch whatever movie I want, look up whatever I want on the Internet. Nothing the government has done has changed that, so far - so they're innocent until proven guilty - not the other way around.

I see no evidence that the government is going to go into people's houses and take all their guns away. Until I see that evidence, I'm not going to assume that it's going to happen.

actually those statements are incorrect, you cannot marry another of the same sex,
in NY you cannot have certain size drinks, in many places you cannot not have money
as its considered vagrancy, here in my state is one, you cannot move without informing
the governing body of the state as it is illegal and many many more things similar to
those, we are free, to an extent but not as your claiming.

oh and cant leave out all the banned books and movies, do a quick search and
you will find that not only do they certainly ban things here, there are huge lists
of banned things.....

Actually, my statements are correct - I never mentioned same-sex marriage in my statements.

You are referring to state government - I was referring to the federal government. Many state governments are totally stupid, I will agree. I am a proponent of the federal government outlawing many of the stupid state laws. I think the Supreme Court will eventually outlaw state bans of same-sex marriage, so that's a good thing.

I do not believe the federal government has currently banned any book or movie, with the exception of child porn movies. Since sex with a minor is illegal, I think this is an acceptable exception.

I don't believe that the U.S. govt would outright, go in & forcefully remove 'guns' from law abiding citizens but then you see things like this:

Now there's your shred of evidence on how it would be possible & with minimum fight back from the law abiding citizens. . . Don't forget about the use of 'foreign' troops/U.S. allies in order to accomplish this task.

I honestly believe that the U.S. govt would ban/limit ammo, offer buy-backs for 'guns' & begin banning certain types of 'guns' first. . . And, then at opportune moments quietly disarm towns that are under a 'crisis'.

the government did not need to gain my initial trust. they had it automatically. it was, therefore, theirs to lose. which they did many years ago. i believe that one should be loyal to the government until it has done something that warrants the revoking of the trust. loyalty is a good thing. blind loyalty, not so much.

this is of course different from the loyalty shown to the country its self and above that the species. i think loyalty to theses should be much deeper.

as for the gun control aspect, i just think things need to collapse. i honestly don't see things getting better without the entire political and economic systems being dismantled and reconfigured in a, hopefully, better way.

It's either blind trust or doing what you can to keep riding the gravy train.

You can drop the 'Blind' from your title and still be 100% accurate. Then again, the government has made attempts to coerce trust from the People. They have done this be attacking the cornerstones of personal responsibility and self reliance and pushing forward an agenda of "it takes a village" and "social justice" programs. Virtually nothing the government does today is Constitutional.
Wars are fought for corporate profit, not national defense and national gain.
Income taxation isn't Constitutional.
Nowhere in the Constitution does it allow for the government to provide food, shelter, medical care, etc for their citizens.
ALL forms of gun control are in direct violation of the Second Amendment.
NOWHERE in the Constitution does it call for freedom from religion.
None of the Federal agencies have a Constitutional claim on any of the powers they have taken, not TSA, not EPA, not FBI, not CIA, certainly not DEA.

Trusting the US government at this point is pretty much like trusting the inmates to tend the asylum.

Sure, you can trust the government, just ask the Native Americans.

The Federal government is so generous that there are over 10,000 laws they can put you in jail for. Although, nobody knows the exact number of laws.

The Federal government is so geneorus that they own the majority of the West. States like Nevada can't use 80% of their land because it is Federally controlled.

The Federal government is so trustworthy that they will increase the national debt to $25 Trillion by 2020, promising a tax burden on future generations that did not enjoy the gifts that money was spent on.

The Federal government is so trustworthy that they allow the Courts to define its own powers In fact, it was the case Marbury v. Madison where the Supreme Court defined its own powers.

The Federal government is so reliable that the US infrastructure gets a D when graded by an association of Civil Engineers. The Federal excise taxes seem to be working out well.

The Federal government is so reliable that organizations like FEMA had to close their weather relief stationson the Atlantic seaboard due to bad weather. Government work does have its perks.

The Federal government is so likeable that the agencies the US citizens interact with most are liked the least. The top winners are the IRS and TSA; clearly, the American public just isn't giving the government a chance to be liked.

Sorry I was over the top about the "do your own research" bit, as you're saying that blind trust in government is a damn stupid thing. I agree, but added that blind trust in anything is stupid, whether religion, organizations, institutions, or whatever other glorified, annointed, fancy-titled person/organization comes along as an expert and answer to whatever problem.

The only thing I have to trust in is myself, and my family.

On the part about church coming for your guns, they don't have the legal capacity, but they have enough influence over their followers to create events for people to donate their guns to the church in exchange for a gift / money / whatever:
