I am watching CNN now regrading the Fiscal Cliff i have this that Congresswomen has a good habit of lying just like how Obama was optimistic over the deal on Friday and now this Congresswomen who was speaking she was sounding optimistic yet her lying face was showing.

She the Congresswomen was claiming that they can get a deal done within 30 hours, yeah i am doubting that.

I doubt it too...from any of them. Boehner has it all lined out in HIS mind, how to stick Obama with it. Obama has it all laid out in HIS mind, how to stick Boehner with it ...and neither give a damn about the 10's of thousands getting STUCK no matter which side wins the blame game.

I'll wish this Congresswoman well because we have no other choices here. I know it's 'little boy who cried wolf' to most people because we've been down this road a dozen times for deadlines and doom dates. This one is no joke and 100% no drill. We're in deep deep and terrible trouble in a couple days....and unless this woman and her colleagues fix it in that time? America will measurably change from 11:59pm to 12:00am real quick here.

My best wishes that they fix it somehow.

Is that spin for "We Are Doomed!"

It's all political theater the dems want the tax increases and the pubs want them too but don't want to vote for them so now they can blame the dems. And the deadline will pass and they will do an emergency deal that will change nothing but raise the debt ceiling like they MUST or the phony debt based economy will come to a screeching halt....

It will do nothing to "fix things" ( there is nothing they can do now that will fix anything) it will just postpone the inevitable just a little longer..

Exactly!!!!

Let's just keep the sheeple fighting as long as we can aye? The only way to address our debt is to address the Federal Reserve and globalist bankers whom have enslaved the world with their fiat currency! Ron Paul tried, but only a few listened......

Total BS - they have ways to fund the government for at least another month & they will retro-active the bill & taxes. It's total nonsense.

Several congressmen said this, this morning. Sounded like there will be a tax increase for persons making more than $400-500,000/yr. They said, Obama won.

I remember this show from 2 years ago. It was kinda thrilling then, but once you've seen the ending once, it losses it's thrill on the second viewing.

Snore. I obviously don't make a half mil a year!

Those layoff notices to 10's of thousands were not nonsense. The billions in new taxes levied in 48 hours.. regardless...is not nonsense. The milk price increase to a 1940's law expiring in a few days..is not nonsense...

There are A LOT of factors combining here ...and what they have to try and fix is only PART of it. Even if Congress fixes 100% of this and Obama signs 100% on time and it's implemented? There are still parts of "The Cliff" that are totally unrelated to that and still coming whether we like it, believe it or care. The reality coming down the mountain really has no interest in how much we believe in it. It's bouncing right on down anyway.

If they don't fix their part...then what may well be a ROUGH ROUGH month, but perfectly survivable in economic terms, becomes entirely uncharted waters we're entering and your guess is as good as anyone else's because even the CBO can't agree with itself on what exactly happens or HOW bad it is.

I believe the republicans are stopping it purely because it will tax the rich. Thus republicans are backed by the elite and the rich.

They also want it to fail, because it then makes Obama look like the one who made it fail, when honestly, the USA needs to start taxing its rich people more.

Save the world.
Hang every single republican in Washington that is backed by a rich elite.

Yeah... That's the spirit of making things work and seeing a better America for all it's people.

Murder roughly 50% of the representatives elected to serve them.
Good Lord.

No deal tonight & Congress has left the building, not to return until 11 AM tomorrow. We will get some good tankage in the markets before they even reconvene. I do not think there will be a deal, I think (MY Opinion) that between the debt ceiling & the Fiscal Cliff, we will have no deals & the US will be forced into austerity.

Congress will be blamed, Obama will still be idolized as being the only one who was really trying to compromise (all lies) & The US public will find out how Greece feels

There isn't enough money in the world to solve our debt "problem" (and I put that in quotes because money is an artificial social construct, so debt doesn't really exist; therefore, it isn't really a problem). It's never going to happen. This "debate" is political theater for the ignorant masses. It's a form of psychological masturbation. I truly hope more people are beginning to recognize that, but alas...

"The system" is fundamentally unnatural, and as such will inevitably collapse, no matter what kind of bandages you want to put on it.

"The only way to fix it is to flush it all away." --Tool

I couldn't agree more, and I say the sooner the better.

Hmmm.... For an artificial construct it's sure been mighty real for the last few decades when the U.S. has used debt to throttle smaller nations right and left. Through high interest loans nations can't realistically pay off which are made through the IMF on things like capital improvement projects and infrastructure, smaller nations world wide have found themselves like the debtor to a mafia loan shark.

Confessions of an Economic Hitman

^^ That's a non-fiction I'd read years ago and recommend to anyone who is interested in seeing how debt and international economics actually works in the real world of nations exploiting each other at any opportunity.

Now....for us to suddenly sit back here in America and say 'Debt doesn't matter'? The majority of the world must be laughing hysterically at the notion we'd expect to get away with that. Perhaps if we hadn't been essentially buying and selling whole countries with foreign debt obligations used against them? The world could be a little understanding ...

I would't expect one drop of mercy from the majority of nations tho... People well before you and I were around to really make debate of this set that stage and made what followed possible.
We just get to suffer the shoe changing feet.
