Very interesting.

Of course I'm keenly interested in whatever Joel has to say. And I certainly keep an eye on the area.

Thx

thanks a whole great big lot!!

You are most welcome! That's probably the only help that someone of my intellectual capability relative to yours will be able to offer, but am very glad that it got you over the hump! Consider it my contribution (small though it may be) to your work here on ATS

just an idea for rosswellian

actually this may be where the idea for the 3DV started, on Excel.
I played around with the Design on Excell to kind of match the North Lake Taupo Graph with the 3DV look.
Of course I can't make it rotate or do flips or do the dinner dishes

with the longitude and depth, you know exactly where you are looking at, but probably too hard to write the code to do that for everywhere.

It is late now so I will take a look at those areas tomorrow.

I have added the ones I posted and given it the once over but it is late so here it is warts and all. Hope it works OK.

IEBUrlBuilder_1-2-3-0_setup.zip

This has the lists and the browser selection. Too late to change the help but all should be obvious.

Enjoy!

No time to respond now but here is the map from IEB. Hope it helps (It might not! See below)

Israel Region

From that you can get the list, but it is not showing anything beyond 2011 ????? Seems a bit odd.

Thanks for all that wonderful work! Splendid!

Much appreciate the Israel link, too.

The interesting thing for some of us re Israel would be to watch the quakes under and around . . . and the faults running directly under the Mt of Olives.

IIRC, decades ago, Shell Oil discovered significant faults running exactly as predicted for the future major quake to split the Mt of Olives and form a major valley . . . running East, IIRC.

Anyway--not a raging priority at the moment by any means. But some of us are keenly interested when we can get to it.

Not sure how to tag such a spot and have it show up in the 3D . . . which might be another feature . . . when Google earth or map doesn't label a major feature used by the 3D . . . for the user to be able to tag & label such a feature.

Y'all are a great crew on the quake thread here. You're some of my most favorite people on the web and otherwise.

THX THX THX.

Blessings,

LISS SNZO is missing a ton of graph images, I'm sure they were saved on Dropbox, but now all I can see are the thumbnails, they were the same url but with a T on the end.
Well that has smashed that page for good, there are only a couple of links that still work after 15.05.2013.
Damn! I didn't save them on my HardDrive.
Back-up, Back-up, Back-up, but I keep forgetting.

Before you remove that page you should check the links. If they are dropbox or wordpress then if they vanished they must have backups.

Just looked at the page. Those are all dropbox links. They have screwed up - unless you deleted the files from your hard drive bearing in mind that if a file is removed from the dropbox folder on your hard drive it is also removed on the web.

Dropbox also has various versions so it is very likely that if you talk to support that you can get those files back again. Don't give up on it just yet!

Now then boys and girls. IRIS is rapidly becoming my provider of choice

Having just made a link correction in my Loads of links page to the IRIS 30 day listing (thanks rosswellian) it has been pointed out that the original DATE field has been replaced with a LOCATION field that links to the IEB centred on the event.

Love it! I shall use these links on my event pages in future. It just gets better and better.

I'll leave the page on for now, but its already dead because Useless has not replaced LISS as yet, the continuity has been lost.

I'm wondering if I accidentally deleted those graph images when I cleaned out Snagit's Library.
That is where I changed them from png to gif, and I had a ton of stuff in the Library there. So one day I selected them all and deleted them, only minutes later realizing I should have selected "Only remove the files from the Snagit Library" rather than "Delete the files (move to the Recycle Bin)"
And of course I emptied the Recycle Bin seconds before seeing that.
I didn't realize it would go right through to Dropbox and delete them from there too.
I can be a dunderhead sometimes.

I'm going to go in and bring back out some stuff that I only saved on Dropbox and store it on my remote Hard Drive, just in case something else goes wrong.

There's probably some data recovery software that could have retrieved even deleted stuff . . . unless it had been overwritten etc. . . . as you likely know.

Heading to bed folks. It's been . . . splendid.

BO I have added one or two of your list, and all the regions from IEB which covers a few more of yours. Those which come from IEB have (IEB) in the name. I don't want to load the program with text that is only going to be accessed once. There are 41 areas now and as you will see below I have added functionality that means I (or anyone else) can continue to create areas without 'overhead' in the code.

I have added some list controls

You can now re-create the list, delete a single list item or import a list (which must be in the right format)

You can also access the file to directly edit it.

When you first install the latest version you current list will be zapped and there is an extra field for number of events. Sorry if that means you lose an entry or two.

I am testing all this now and will issue an update later this afternoon/evening.

By adding the IEB entries to the list you can edit them in the same manner as any other list item. See the 'Saved and Popular Areas' tab for details.

When I said anyone else can create areas*, all it requires is a text file in this format

NORTH & SOUTH KOREA,33.8,43.2,124,131,1000
N.SEA OF JAPAN/HOKKAIDO,40.747,47.070,127.771,145.459,2500

That second one is a good one Look North for the best view.

*PS I could not stop myself - I added those 2 to the built in list!

All you need to do is copy and paste the into a plain text file and then import it. You can all swap shapes until the cows come home!

AH! YES! One of the BIG issues I have always had with Snagit. When you clean the library it cleans out everything - the library entry AND the file on disk - and it does not tell you that either.

I had a program that accessed the library in Snagit 9 and allowed you to bypass that 'feature' of theirs. I will see if I can resurrect it some time and make it work with Snagit 10. I should have the code somewhere.

ETA: Seriously - contact DropBox. They may well be able to help you if it was less than 30 days ago.

It's just been a little too quiet. I think that we are in for a large quake in the next week or so. I think the one near Mexico was a warning of something big to come. It doesn't have to be a quake really, it could be another volcano coming back to life. I know this sounds like doom and gloom, but it is not. It is just a feeling of pressure building somewhere. It may be in some secluded place, anywhere in the world, it doesn't have to be a catastrophe.
