Ok, Mucker first off it would be a detoured round trip to my base location to pick up family and freinds. Im trying not to give to much away here,


In the City there are various locations i have recced and found them suitible for an interim saftey location, I have to be able to gain acces and secure these sites so i have hedged my bets and gathered toghether what i might think usful to survive, Not all my gear has a "one use funtion" its based on the layer cake theory of "what ifs".

Your quite right right about the signal lamp to be used as away of road checks, Using the red, amber, green, aspects. Also red does not spoil your night vision. VCPs are still quite common here in Belfast.

As for the snips and ball penn they are great in a many ways for shaping and forming steel and steel rods, Think tin bashing and body armour.

One off my primery taskings will be to get an armoured 4x4 truck, There are in an abundance here so very easy to come bye,

or in any of the list's or photo's of a bob...

Where are all the small first aid kit's?

They are cheap to pick up, you can add
more to them, and are invaluable in case of
accident.

Shoot, i dont go camping without one, seems like
almost every time one of the kids is getting a cut or
scrape, i would think in a bug out situation, one
would be more valuable than most things on this
thread so far.

Personally i would not even think of making a bob or
any type of pile of stuff without at least a small basic
kit put in it.

Last thing you want to do is end up with a infected cut,
sure, made it home, but now your cut you got is infected
and you have to worry about fighting that as well as the
rest of the world...

just a thought.

Although personally i dont have a bag, i live up in the
mountains away from any large populations, so im not to
worried about having to bug out anywhere fast.

Really good point a good first aid kit is a must. Also people who need certain medications to survive should plan ahead and have some extra just in case.




Fist aid kits should be a 1# priority.

I am starting a project which i am not sure how
it is going to come out, but has a good basis
in theory.

I am going to make myself a pair of coverall's..
but instead of heavy fabric and stuffing i am
going to use some of those survival blankets.
You know the ones, the silver reflective kind..

Im thinking hard canvas type material on the
outside, a lining of the survival blanket next
then top that off with fleece material for warmth.

Not sure how this will end up working, but it has some potential
to be a very handy and warm light weight way to keep warm.

Beings i have never sewed anything before, this could be
a while before its done. *LOL*
I was searching ebay and can pick the blankets up for about
a buck a piece. Being this far north and as long as our winters
are, staying warm is important.
If this works out, i may work on sox, hat and gloves as well.

I wonder if anyone has tried this before? ? ?

just as a question, what is fleece? i thought it was wool, or is that a technical term for wool+other material.

are fleece items as acceptable as "wool" is for survival needs?

you know, honestly i am not sure what its made
of, but it's some warm stuff. We have a few blankets
that are made of it, and on the cold nights they are
on the bed, but normally about 1/2 hr later they are
kicked off onto the floor, get's way to warm.

I'll have to do some digging and see if i can find you a
answer, but will be a bit, daughter has a dentist apt this am.
