On December 20, Fox’s WXIX affiliate in Cincinnati, Ohio, ran a segment on the Second Amendment. Reality Check host Ben Swann did an admirable job of explaining what the rest of the corporate media avoids like the plague – the Second Amendment is not about hunting or even self-defense, it’s about responding to government tyranny.

A mass shooting survivor runs a clinic on the second amendment:

Her story in text is below:

“Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed….”- Noah Webster, An Examination of the Leading Principles of the Federal Constitution, 1787
On October 16, 1991, Hennard drove his 1987 Ford Ranger pickup truck through the front window of a Luby’s Cafeteria at 1705 East Central Texas Expressway in Killeen, yelled “This is what Bell County has done to me!”, then opened fire on the restaurant’s patrons and staff with a Glock 17 pistol and later a Ruger P89. About 80 people were in the restaurant at the time. He stalked, shot, and killed 23 people and wounded another 20 before committing suicide. During the shooting, he approached Suzanna Gratia Hupp and her parents. Hupp had actually brought a handgun to the Luby’s Cafeteria that day, but had left it in her vehicle due to the laws in force at the time, forbidding citizens from carrying firearms.

This is the reality of what our second rights are all about. It was never about hunting, or even protecting ourselves from an attacker, it was about the security of a free state. The founders knew that the day may come again, when we would have to rise up and fight our own government, due to their illegitimacy and corruption. It is not only our right, but our duty as Americans. If we ever stop fighting for our freedoms, someone will take them and we will lose them, but only if we let it happen. We can not be docile and apathetic any longer. This is not about gun control, it's just about control.

The Second Amendment, as it reads: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

"The great thing about the second amendment is that it won't be needed until they try and take it."--Thomas Jefferson
