Falluja insurgents have stated that they did not kidnap and are not holding Margaret Hassan in Iraq. They also have condemned the kidnapping stating
that she should not have been kidnapped as she works for a humanitarian organization (CARE).

Insurgent commanders in the Iraqi city of Falluja said on Sunday they were not holding foreign hostage Margaret Hassan and condemned her kidnapping.
"This woman works for a humanitarian organisation. She should not have been kidnapped," said the emir, or commander, of one group of Iraqi insurgents
in the town.
Many of the scores of kidnappings in Iraq since April have taken place around Falluja, a fiercely anti-American guerrilla stronghold 50 km (30 miles)
west of Baghdad.

Speculation is now that Hassan is the victim of a criminal kidnapping. Criminals in Iraq have been known to kidnap for ransom or sell the kidnapped
persons to militant groups.
Maybe this means there is some hope for her.
