Sorry, this is not about AJ being a controlled CIA asset, or a fear-mongering profiteer. The fact is, that I agree with much of what AJ says.

There are clearly systems of control, which have been implemented for a long time, and appear to now be stronger than ever. I can't argue with many of these "conspiracies".

The issue is not with the legitimacy of these concepts. The real problem lies with what these theories do to us. I have been researching things since I learned about 9/11, probably like many of us ATSers, and I found it to be the tip of the iceberg.

For the past 7 or 8 years, I have been fascinated with uncovering the cover-ups, and connecting all the dots. But at the same time, I now realize that this knowledge, which can be quite burdensome for a multitude of reasons, has one major side-effect: a major deficit of personal accountability and responsibility.

When we feel that unseen forces are manipulating and controlling every aspect of society, from religion to government to media to banking to, you name it, where does that leave us? It is impossible to not feel somewhat powerless. The easiest thing to do is just blame these systems of control, to feel shackled and enslaved as AJ or Icke, or many of the truth leaders, tell us we are.

The easiest thing to do now is shift the blame for our own problems to 'the man', or the system. If you don't get the job you want, or don't get into a good enough school, or cannot keep up with your bills, or most importantly, cannot find happiness, why not blame it on the status quo? You certainly have a good point. Therein lies the problem.

While learning the truth has been a big part of my life, it has also been a major distraction from one thing- my life. It is time that we forget about all the things that impede on our freedom, and focus on what makes us free. It is time to be accountable, and responsible, and to take charge of what we can, while we can.

Who knows, maybe I'll be in FEMA camps tomorrow. And if so, I'll probably regret all that time I spent trying to figure out why or how I was going to get there.

Yes, the thread is about "Scare em all Al Jones" being a fearmongering profiteer if the title of the thread is "The REAL Problem With Alex Jones ".
Because that is the problem with him.

You might be right. But that is irrelevant to my point. I'm just bringing up a different aspect of why his message could be detrimental in some ways.

The REAL problem with Alex Jones is that he is Alex Jones.

It's his business ( read means of accumulating wealth ) to pander to a lowest common denominator - as all entertainment does. Key word "entertainment".

The problem with Alex is that, in order to accomplish this, he has to mix together every single conspiracy theory in the known universe, to attract the widest possible demographic. This mass appeal approach waters down any relevant message that he might have once been able to convey.

Don't believe me? Take the time to try and create an Alex Jones "conspiracy" flow chart. Here's a hint... you're going to run out of walls AND string before it even begins to make the first bit of sense.

It's funny, me and my brother were just talking about Alex Jones. I like his show, he brings up interesting things. However, I don't like his way of getting it across, sometimes he seems to make a mountain out of a molehill. His hyped up way of transferring information is his main problem. He is crass and that causes people to be turned off by him. Unfortunately, he has good information sometimes that all people need to hear, but it tends to fall on deaf ears because of his way of oratory.

Personally, I could care less what AJ believes, what he is trying to do, or whether or not he is full of bull. I am interested in his business model, which is highly effective, and also his model for making social impact, which has also been highly effective. Who cares about the man or his motives? Can't we all learn something useful from his business model and his model for making social impact?

The most intelligent thing that man ever did was make movies and use YouTube and his anxious viewers to foot the bill for the cost of making copies and showing viewings of the films. Then he had his radio show for people to go to who wanted more, and he could make a profit through advertising and also pushing "high quality" versions of his films. In essence, the guy only paid to make his films and then everyone else did the work for him and paid the costs of making copies and holding film viewings - genius! Like him or not, his business model was/is a gem.

Then there is the social impact this very business model has. It uses word of mouth and is VERY socially inclusive as it gets the viewer involved in the entire movie experience. The individual gets to LIVE the movie by being involved in some way with it. Again, this is genius and very very useful for generating political activisim and awareness.

Who cares what is or might be wrong with the guy? His model works, and so if you know YOU are right and stand for the right things, then you have a business model and acitivist model to use as a guide for your own ideas.

I can tell that you only care about yourself at the end of the day. That is your problem.

And what Alex Jones does is take fact and mince it with his lunatic rantings. Now that fact is associated with a lunatic conspiracy theorist. Icke is the same.

Who would take Jones or Icke seriously? Lunatics and children. Result? OWS speckled with raving lunatics from Fema region 7.

ATS and conspiracy stuff serves the same role. How could you take something seriously if the source was ATS? How could the average person? They couldnt.

People need to stop using words like 'illuminati'. It makes you sound like a child or a lunatic.

Facts are facts.

And instead of worrying about yourself.......think of Africa or something. What do you have to complain about?

Well you may have a point or two, I'll concede that. But why are you here?
I was trying to contribute something, albeit just a simple thought, that might be useful to some, if just for an instant. Yeah, if you spent all your time worrying about all the problems of Africa, or around the world, that would not be healthy. You might need a hug.

Why is he here? Its called a troll. Mention Alex Jones and they come out of the woodwork like cockroaches. It use to be that way every time Chemtrails were mentioned. Its about propaganda of denial as some would say is double speak. It was a troll that turned me on to AJ anyone going to such lengths to discredit someone has to have an agenda. Being curious I had to see what all the commotion was about. I have been a listener since. To all you naysayers and trollers THANK YOU! I have discovered other interesting sites as well.

Kind of like what this site does? The owners can sit back and claim that it is the members who promote the various conspiracy theories and they are just the enablers. You are a member of a site that promotes a wide range of conspiracy theories from Bigfoot to 911, from ancient aliens to shapeshifting reptiles. Casting stones at Alex Jones from this glass house is in poor taste in my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, I love ATS and visit this site almost every day. I also occasionally listen to jones. I find him entertaining. I like the fact that he has not backed off of the TSA abuses like so many other programs. He is an entertainer, keep that in mind.

Yeah, I may need a hug.

I just wonder why OWS wasnt about a Global minimum Wage or something important like that. Its always about us. I dont think we can complain in the west until we fix some things and make the world more fair. Charity wouldnt be needed if we sought genuine solutions.

But I agree with you. Its not healthy to put all of your focus into negative thinking. And we can all only do what we can.

And I think I am here to help the CIA/NSA with taking our temp. I am not violent and I do not encourage violence. But I want the CIA to know that we are not as stupid as we think they are. Many of us are very well informed. Especially on ATS. I dont mean to bag the site. I just think that even if there was an 'illuminati" for example, its just not helpful to use the term if we want people to listen. A guy like Alex Jones makes sure regular people think any topic associated with the guy is nonsense. I feel like its his job to turn fact into nonsense.

I cannot, and will not, speak for the owners or administrators. But as a moderator? I am very active on ATS. I post frequently, author a fair number of threads, moderate the boards, and also volunteer my time in helping to moderate the debate and member art forums.

For all of the above I receive zero compensation. Not a penny. Ever. Neither do any of the other members of staff. We are all volunteers.

Thus, I disagree with your glass house comparison. I participate and contribute for motives other than profit. ATS is not my source of income. What I write here does not profit me in the least. It is something I do as a hobby, not a vocation. THAT is the glaring difference.

And I was just thinking...
I am pretty stupid. I would be the first to admit that. But the media and politicians are doing a terrible job on both sides. its almost as if they dont even try any more.

Like I said, Im pretty stupid. I think the reason most people are not really angry about how politicians and the media speak to us and treat us is because most people are just too busy and are very comfortable.

It sems to me that western economies will only get worse in the next few years. Austerity is a nonsense solution but without getting into that, I fear all western countries are going to end up like Greece. I think the Greek situation is glossed over by the msm. I dont want things to get like that. People are acting like animals. There is nothing good about it. more and more Greeks are being pushed too far.

Its like capitalism has lost its soul.

And I think Greeks are angry because they are not stupid. And if we see high unemployment and major cuts to public services then I think unrest is unstoppable.

I just dont think the western middleclass is going to sit back and become poor while the rich live the same if not better. The Greeks are really angry. The Golden Dawn is powerful because of it. I dont want to see people get desperate and angry. There is alot of racial tension in Europe now especially in France and Greece. Its kinda scary.

With the way America is, it seems like it will be Greece in no time at all, and I think alot worse. Either that, or war with China. It freaks me out.

And like I said, you can only do what you can. I cant really think of that much you can do other than talk about things with people. And you may have noticed that even though I know Im kinda stupid, I also think Im hella smart and I want people to know they are wrong and hear my correct opinion.

Sorry for clogging your thread. I was wondering why I am here. So I guess, to recap, Im worried about the world and I am pretty sure the CIA thinks everyone is very very dumb. ( I use the CIA as a catch all for those that pull strings, for example, I think the CIA owns the IMF, US Governmet, UN , World Bank...etc ) But I know people are not that dumb and they wont be when the rug is pulled out from under them. I just think the CIA should think of something else. If America turns into Greece, it will be a pretty messy world. Unless China can keep everything together, but I dont think they are ready and in some ways, its like they dont want to until they see America fall.

Plus I am bored. And I honestly feel that forums are constructive. Some people say stuff like "get off the internet and actually do something" but I think talking about stuff is doing something. I think that if you talk enough you can see middleground and solutions.

Anyway, maybe there is some subconscious reason. Or the hug thing.

No one is questioning whether you are getting paid to act as a moderator or whether you are active on this forum or not. We all appreciate what you do to help keep ATS the great site that it is. I personally just find it distasteful to criticize Jones for making a profit off of what most of us do for fun.
Please don't take my comments as a personal attack against you.
