Interestingly, Buddhism, and various spiritual paths as well as philosophies have been saying for over 2000+ years that our reality is illusion. Looking forward to the results

My thread from 2007

Are we Living in a Simulated universe?

Couldn't be bothered to copy and paste my thoughts from that here so thought i would post link for people to browse my 5 year old views
if they feel so inclined

But yes we very may well be living in a simulated universe

Aw crap you're right. I tried searching for duplicates and nothing came up about the UW post. Its all caps because I merely copy/pasted the Discovery News article. Oh well I tried... Bye bye post.

Their is no definitive thread on this subject , a few ones with the same title but any latest information is welcome imho.

Keep posting! keep bouncing ideas! that's what ATS is about, makes a change from the doom porn

we're already evolving towards designer babies with super strength, super immune systems, no body fat, increased endurance, height, more percentage of brain used, merged w A.I.

Matter of time bud

How about we're in a computer simulation, within a computer simulation, within a computer simulation, within a real universe. Would that affect the calculations required to prove if we're in one or not..?

Oh better get some painkillers for the headache.

Simulations mimmic life, not the other way around. I can see how people are becoming confused though, simulations are looking impressive these days

It's a simulation created by the super consciousness that we are all from. It created it so it can experience. We are all part of this consciousness but have been separated and made to forget in order to gain this experience without influence or past knowledge that would effect the experiences outcome. Like drops of water from the ocean, we are part of that ocean yet separated and will return to provide the experience we have been separated for.

That's my overwhelming feeling of what is going on. Sounds wacky but I just can't shake it and the more I look into the nature of reality and what is being learnt about consciousness and the quantum world the more I am convinced this could be the case.

Explains a lot of the head scratching events that take place in this world. Good bad right wrong it's all just experience for the infinitely powerful super consciousness.

'The idea we live in a simulation isn't science fiction'

The link above is an article released today by New scientist i thought people may want to read it and as this thread is already going i wont start a new one :p

The size of the universe we simulate is a just fermi, that's a box with sides 10-15 metres long. But we can use Moore's Law to imagine what we might be able to simulate in future.

If the current trends in computing continue, we should be simulating a universe the size of a human within a century and within five centuries, we could manage a box 1026 metres big. That's the size of the observable universe.

still think it cant be done naysayers?
