TSA (style security) - Coming to an Elementary School Near You!

I've been watching post after post about whether we should have gun control or not, because of the Elementary school shooting today. But I think the implications go far beyond just gun control.

First I would like to say this, remember how 9/11 got into our heads the day it happened, and we, "The People" demanded better security? Well we got what we asked for, and have lost most of the freedoms we once had. The people of this country are more afraid of those who are supposed to protect us than the "terrorists".

Now, today when I was doing my daily news browsing and went to cnn.com I saw the story about the shootings and how up to 18 children had been killed. My mind immediately thought of my daughter who is in the first grade. I was thinking how I would have felt if it were my daughter who had been shot. (one second I am getting her on the bus for school, the next it could be all over)

Then I was thinking about how, just this last Monday, I was able to go into my daughters school to watch her do her first biography presentation.

That's when it hit, I may not be allowed to go into my daughters school again when she does presentations or some school program. Not without a TSA type of security at least.

The government will use this in order to keep parents away from their children during school hours. We will no longer be allowed to witness the progress of our child and on those few moments where we will have to visit the school, we will be subjected to very tight security procedures.

It may go further in the fact that our own children may have to go through a tight security procedure just to go to school. I'm not talking high school or even middle school, I am talking about Kindergartners being frisked and having their bookbags checked out before they can even enter the school.

It will be the "people" that call for this (as they did on 9/11), it won't be forced on them (not at first), they will be crying for it.



Look, I am very saddened by this event in Connecticut. My heart aches for the families of the victims as well as those in the school. But we need to stop and breath for a minute. Gun control will just be the tip of the ice burg here, as airport security was for 9/11. Any place that has children will be subject to it not just schools.

Note: I believe it will happen fast too, as they will need to do it while they are still have the emotions of the parents.

Maybe it is time to get rid of public schools.

However, School's already have a prison feel to them, now it will probably truly become a prison type atmosphere.

our schools are already locked down...everyday..the public can only go through one door in front. No one is allowed in the school without checking/signing in. If they don't recognize you they make you wait..

I'm beginning to think this is a good idea..since there are so many psychopaths out there..Im so glad that dude is dead..along with the person that bred such evil.

Most school's have this, probably even the one in Connecticut did. It won't be long before we start seeing articles about how secure our kids really are in school blah blah blah.

They will talk about how standard prototypical typical in most school systems just isn't enough. Everyone will cry for tighter security. Someone will sue the school corporation, city and state, saying their wasn't enough security. School corporations nationwide will get scared and tighten security. They will call on the government to help keep them secure, and as always one thing will lead to another and voila, Prisons for our children.

But there is a risk verus reward in that to produce a student of a reasonable quality guaranteed not to have been attacked by a nutter on the school ground there will have to be a certain expenditure on security to ensure that fact and lets not forget that come monday every parents going to want machine gun turrets at the gate, teachers wearing vests and always having a gun in their hand just in case along with members of the local SWAT team patrolling the school

Wow you paint a grim picture. I can almost see it playing out in my head as you describe it. It's almost like this has gone down before... oh wait! It did, with 9/11 and the patriot act. The government probably started drooling at the mouth when they heard this transpire. Another opportunity to strip our freedoms away, target: firearms and control of our children's safety.

Yes and to go along with this, in time they will use the "security" personnel to punish our children when they don't hold up their hand in class or something like that.

Actually, I think what's happening is they're working on denying people who are deemed (by the state, naturally) mentally ill the right to own firearms.

I just saw some FBI profiler or something on MSNBC about twenty minutes ago talking about the kinds of people who do this are usually clinically depressed. So basically, I think they're going to just make a list of people who can't own a gun and the public will support it because they pushed all the right buttons. Once they've established such a list, they'll eventually be able to put more and more types of people on it.

And yes. They will probably take this opportunity to expand airport type security into malls and schools. They usually use these things for as many parts of their agenda as they can.

Great post. I agree with you that it will probably start like that. Other conditions will be added to the list, but likewise other types of people we may not consider being depressed or what not will soon be considered to have the condition. Such as survivalists and conspiracy theorists.

Actually you might be onto something. How about a security system that will close and lock all doors. A push of a button would secure every room. Also put security doors in the halls isolating each section of the school.

You just never know what "they" have in mind.

Recess will be no more, or have a heavy security presence (can we say indoctrination?)

Bathroom visits will require a security escort.

The principal will have their own secret service.

Teachers will be trained as police officers. Their hiring will be based more on ability to "secure" our kids vs their ability to teach our kids.

I am not saying that things will happen this way or not, I am saying many security things we never would have imagined have come out of 9/11, so you just never know to what extent they plan to use this as a propaganda tool.

I don't think we should make any changes to gun laws or security. We would just be letting our fear control us but if you stop to think about it we are blowing one violrnt act out of proportion. Where is all the outrage over the onesies and twosies that happen every day in every city? If we can feel safe enough with those violent crimes happening then we can feel safe after this event.

I understand what you are saying and I'm with you too an extent but, were else can you go were there are this many people gathered in one place on a regular basis with no security? My local VA office has enough police on hand to start a small army.

i believe thats what this is all abount...doggy training opportunities for the government vs the real solution:

You are closer than you think.
Students are treated like prisoners, made to work for 6 hours a day at school, A couple of hours of homework after and all for no pay. All without ever commiting a croms.

Now what is that called... OH Yes SLAVERY!

Enjoy your childs free public education.

Want a wake up call at how watered down the classes have become- find a 10th grade high school math textbook from 1950 or before and find out what level in college teaches those same principles.

Todays college degrees are the equivalent of what a high school diploma was in the 1950 and add on the extra 200K of student loan debt to start your working career with .

Home school your children, sends them to private school but the public school system needs to go away.

Um, I meant doors that allow you out but not in. Kinda like automatic fire doors.

Frankly, I'm just glad I don't have any kids in this day and age. The past had it's own challenges for parents but kids and their parents these days are just under so much pressure from so many directions It's no wonder kids are growing up and doing crazy things (If in fact that's really what's happening).
