Clean up America.....where do we start

Not sure this is the right forum....

Ok...so we all know that America is in a mess. "most" of us can agree on that...a big mess. So what do we do? Voting in a President isn't going to change anything...for one thing, a mess like this isn't going to be straightened out in 4 years and not in 8 if re-elected....where do we start? What can we, the people do? Where do we begin?

All of it...our planet, our politics, our ethics....it's a mess, actually the world's a mess. It bothers me...I worry about my grandchildren's future

Start a religious movement. People will do anything for religion. Talk to your local churches and see if they can spare some money to clean up rivers on parks. Hand out instuctional brochures. Start a petition to change your electricity to wind power.

Renounce all drug legislation. Regulate the drug trade and create billions in legal profits for the prescription drug companies. Elect Kerry and tax the hell out of the drug companies. Fill up the jails with real criminals and use the tax money from the drug trade to level the inner cities of most major US cities. Rebuild the cities, with the remainder of the drug money, with casinos. Tax the hell out of the casinos. Use the money from the casinos to pay for rehabilitation and treatment of drug addicts.

Well if your looking at the picture from a whole things outside the US would have to change or the whole things a moot point. If we get the best most earth friendly enviromental laws in the US companies will just go to other countries with more lax laws.

One Global law I would like to see is fishing laws that the whole world has to follow. Whales and fish dont follow borders and when they swim in waters say near Japan they can be killed which I cant stand.

The said thing is I think there is a "INTERNATIONAL LAW" for whaling that some countries seem to just ignore.

So I guess it is best to start with yourself.

You are insinuating that the "mess" to which you refer was created by the Bush administration, which is totally inaccurate in my judgement. As a matter of fact, as far as I'm concerned, this is just a back door slap at this current administration, which seems to be the going stale rave on this board right now.

As far as "cleaning up" this nation, I do my best to practice good and moral behavior which includes personal restraint and maturity, and I refrain from throwing trash on the roadside. AS a matter of fact, I have been known to witness others littering, picking up the litter, tracking them down and shoving it back in their automobile at the next light so that they know their lazy and polluting activity did not go unnoticed or appreciated.

illegal immigration would be a good start IMO. Our governments failure to secure our southern border for all these years is appalling. Homeland security sucks. Click this thingy for an article on illegal immigration if your interested. I realize that this has been a problem way before homeland security came into the fray but you'd think that they would have at least done something about it.

Clean up America.....where do we start? I guess it won't be with the boarder. Oh well, I tried.

Step one - Take the warning labels off all products
Step two - Institute jail time for nuisance lawsuits
step three - Take all thought laws off the books hate crimes legislation, affirmative action, racial quotas etc.
step four - repeal all drug laws
step five - end all welfare initiatives except unemployment insurance
step six - allow parents to spank thier children
that alone would solve most of our problems

That is if ya wanna be an Okie. But I imagine that it is not quite like that anymore. Our farm is near Milan Missouri. Population is about 2000. PSF Farms built a hog processing plant there. The amount of latino population is now about 25% not counting the illegal immigrants. When I was a kid there were no latinos at all. Now I really do not mind this because they are willing to work at a place that slaughters 975 head per hour (about 7,000 per day). They cause almost no problems. What is amazing to me though is drugs. I could not belive the amount of drugs around there now. Its not the latinos, its the white kids. It really doesnt matter where you go they are everywhere. You can't fight it. Leagalize it and tax the snot out of it.

It has been gross neglegance for decades.

We need to get education back, and the way to do that is to eliminate Federal and State schools completely. We obviously can not do this overnight, but with a regimented agenda, we could get it accomplished to great results.

We would have better specialized schooling. More age and culturally sound education. Competative schools creating jobs and better rewards for teachers (respect and pay/benefits).

The list goes on.

The money saved would be well worth the effort, not to mention better education to continue the innovation America has become strong on.

Well said. I had a debate about this with a teacher of mine. I am very passionate on this topic.
